Company parties in Essen

Company parties in Essen.

Industrial hall, concert hall or beach site: rooms in Essen each call for different sound, so I first ask about the programme and guest numbers. Six addresses from the World Heritage site via the trade-fair district to the shore of Baldeneysee show how different your company evening can look: as a gala in the hall, as a summer party by the water or as a reception in the concert hall.

Colliery hall or concert hall: corporate event in Essen

For your event in Essen, halls on the World Heritage site, a concert hall by the Stadtgarten, the exhibition grounds around the Gruga or a beach area on Lake Baldeney all come into question. The sound reinforcement needed depends on room size and audience, and that is exactly what I ask about first.

In a former colliery hall I watch the reverberation, in a concert hall where guests arrive and where the dancing happens. We record which item follows when in the briefing; I handle the transport and setup of my equipment myself.

Halle 12

Zeche Zollverein, Essen

The Great Hall of Halle 12 measures 850 square metres and holds up to 1,000 people standing, 800 in rows of seats or 350 at a banquet. The foundation's data sheet lists concerts, galas, congresses and trade fairs. For sound and equipment we talk early about the position.

Grand Hall Zollverein

Kokerei Zollverein, Essen

The Grand Hall in the former suction and compressor hall of the coking plant lists corporate events, galas, anniversaries, summer parties and Christmas parties as occasions. The whole site is barrier-free. Which area is used for dinner and dancing we set in the briefing.

Casino Zollverein

Shaft XII, Essen

The casino's restaurant hosts events with 15 to 150 guests, and Halle9 takes up to 400 guests. From 15 people the venue takes enquiries directly. For an evening on the World Heritage site we plan equipment and routes together.

Messe Essen with Grugahalle

Gruga grounds, Essen

Messe Essen has 110,000 square metres of exhibition space in 10 halls and three congress centres with 28 event rooms; the Grugahalle holds up to 10,000 guests. For rooms of this size we clarify early whether my system suffices or a technical partner joins.

Philharmonie Essen

Saalbau at the Stadtgarten, Essen

The hall building was reopened on 4 June 2004 after reconstruction and serves, besides concerts, conferences, banquets and shareholder meetings. The RWE Pavilion measures 412 square metres with 400 seats in rows; area and seating determine where sound and dancing are possible.

Seaside Beach Baldeney

Baldeneysee, Essen

On the 65,000-square-metre site on Baldeneysee, according to the operator, corporate events and Christmas parties take place; there are also beach bars, a clubhouse and barbecue areas. For an outdoor summer party we discuss power, covering and routes for the equipment.

Rooms, occasions and size details come from the operators' pages and from Wikipedia (as of October 2026). Please discuss free dates directly with the venue concerned.

Who I am

Michael Zimmermann – beats per micha.

Whether annual reception, summer party or Christmas party: the schedule of your evening in Essen determines how I build the music. My craft emerged in the nightclub, and by now over 1450 events stand behind it, private and business. In the preliminary talk we note with you when speeches are planned and when the music gets louder.

I mix the transitions myself, so nothing breaks off after an item on the programme. My system, including wireless microphones, travels with me; setup and sound check are part of the job. If technical staff are on duty at the venue, I coordinate directly with them.

An evening that is planned beforehand

It starts with your music wish list; I coordinate venue and service providers myself, and tracks that don't suit the occasion I remove on your say-so.

Music genres

From the soul of the seventies to today's charts, we agree your programme in advance, and I join the styles into a whole.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Setup takes around 40 minutes and needs about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last track I clear everything away again. About 2.5 m width and 1.5 m depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

Gala ballroom with stage, set tables and DJ booth (AI-generated) Premium

Gala & Awards

Galas and company anniversaries too I shape with the same standard as any other celebration, from the arrival of the first guests to the farewell.

Optional: extras

Live music, photo station or uplights I plan in on request within the same coordination.

Good questions

What organisers in Essen want to know.

These are the questions organisers ask me most often, and if yours is missing, simply pick up the phone.

+49 176 700 580 27
Our event in Essen takes place in a colliery hall: how do you deal with the reverb?

With steel and concrete, I position the speakers deliberately and check the sound in the empty room. Your speeches stay intelligible as a result, and I don't have to overdrive. Please send me photos and dimensions of the hall beforehand.

We expect a large number of guests, spread across the foyer and the hall: can you cover both areas with sound?

With my standard system I cover parties of up to around 150 guests. For two areas or more guests, I bring in a technology partner, whom I will suggest to you in good time.

Our management is giving a longer speech for the anniversary: how do you prepare the music for it?

I agree with you when the speech begins and take the music down on your cue. Afterwards I slowly bring the level back up, so your evening moves into the party without a break.

We are celebrating outdoors by the water in Essen in summer: what do you need from us?

For my system, a covered area of about 2.5 by 1.5 metres next to a power source is enough. If there is no socket, we will work out a solution with you.

How long in advance should we enquire about you for our company party?

For company parties a lead time of four to eight weeks is usually enough; if many employees are on the list or the season is in full swing, enquire earlier. My reply will reach you by the next day at the latest.

Can our employees submit song requests?

Gladly, you collect the requests internally and send me a list. I work in what suits the occasion and leave out what you exclude.

What sets me apart

DJ+ – my extra for special evenings.

If you would like vocals, violin, saxophone or percussion, I arrange musicians from my network. We agree beforehand in which part of the evening a performance works best.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Main-time peak · gala champagne reception

DJ + saxophone

At a standing reception, a saxophone gives the foyer a warm sound that carries the evening into the night.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Summer party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

In a wide hall, percussion adds drive to the mix without you having to fit in a full band and its equipment.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Live-band feeling · party time & special moments

DJ + vocals

A voice singing well-known hits live combines party mood with a stage moment and gets your staff singing along.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Galas & awards · music from the first note

DJ + violin

At a gala, a violin gives the reception dignity, because it creates a festive feeling right from the welcome.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

If you want live music already at the reception or dinner, I'll arrange a well-rehearsed band of two to four musicians for you. After that I keep playing without a break, and because the planning is in my hands, I remain your single point of contact.

I am also at the decks for your company party in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Bochum and Gelsenkirchen; you will find more places I play at the bottom of the page.

For your company party in Essen, tell me the occasion, date and number of guests; in a video call we discuss music, schedule and room. In the briefing before the event we go through the stages of the evening together. Before the doors open I set up the equipment in about 40 minutes and check the sound in the still empty room. My system is enough for up to 150 guests; for a larger audience I bring in technology partners.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

A pure Ballermann and schlager programme? That is not part of my repertoire. A few sing-along titles are welcome at company parties, but building a whole evening on them goes against my style. The same goes for techno with no connection to your audience, for rigid request lists and for festivals with several stages. There are colleagues who do exactly that gladly and well.

My strength is mixing live for guests with a sense for the right moment: precise transitions, the right track at the right time, rather than letting a playlist run. That is why I would rather tell you straight away what I don't offer than have you disappointed on the night.

If that doesn't suit your event, I'm not the right choice, and that's perfectly fine. If it does, we'll discuss everything else.
