Wedding venues in Cologne

Weddings in Cologne.

First I ask whether you are celebrating in the Altstadt, in the greenery of Riehl or on the other side of the Rhine, because a vault, a banquet hall and a castle courtyard each sound different. I present five addresses to you: a Festhaus in the Botanischer Garten, a festival hall in the Altstadt, a museum in the Rheinauhafen, an event center on the Mauritiussteinweg and a moated castle in the north. For each venue I develop the setup and schedule with you.

From the Festhaus to the moated castle: weddings in Cologne

Cologne offers you ballrooms in the old town, a festival house in the Botanical Garden and a moated castle in the north of the city. How a room sounds depends on its ceiling, walls and guest count, and I only plan the speakers and setup once I know your choice.

An orangery echoes differently from a tall hall or a castle courtyard in the open air, and I align my lighting accordingly too. What fits your theme and what must never be played, you enter in the portal. I need about 40 minutes for setup, after which I listen to the empty room.

Flora Festhaus

Botanischer Garten, Cologne-Riehl

After its renovation, the Festhaus of the Flora offers space for around 900 people in the main hall and around 150 in the neighboring orangery. The rooms are rented out for banquets and upscale events. Whether the reception takes place in the orangery and where the dancing happens, we clarify beforehand, and then I plan my spot.

Gürzenich

Altstadt, Cologne

The festival hall in the Altstadt has five rooms with up to 1,338 seats, from the Great Hall to the wine cellar, and lists receptions among its occasions. The late Gothic building was constructed from 1441 to 1447, and in 1955 it reopened after reconstruction. Depending on the room I choose the speakers and lighting, and we also set the time of the opening dance together.

Schokoladenmuseum, Bel Etage

Rheinauhafen, Cologne

On the roof of the Schokoladenmuseum in the Rheinauhafen lies the Bel Etage for up to 80 people. After closing time the building can be rented for up to 400 people. Whether the wedding ceremony and the party take place there or at separate locations determines when I set up.

Wolkenburg

Mauritiussteinweg, Cologne-Altstadt-Süd

The Wolkenburg was built in 1734 on the site of a medieval monastery complex and is now an event center. Which rooms you get for the celebration and how many guests fit in, you ask the venue, and then we discuss the floor plan and power connections.

Schloss Arff

Roggendorf/Thenhoven, Cologne

The former moated castle in the north of Cologne was built between 1750 and 1755 and, according to Wikipedia, has been used for weddings and other events since its sale in 2015. With a castle that has a moat, I think about access, power and weather, and we discuss that well in advance.

I looked up the rooms, capacities and occasions on Wikipedia and with the operators named there (as of October 2026). Whether your date is free and how many guests fit in the venue, only the venue itself knows.

Humanist ceremony in Cologne

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

You are getting married in a city where Kölsch songs, pop and soul are all in demand on the same evening, and exactly this mix belongs in your music. Over 650 weddings have shown me how differently parties dance. Friends from the Veedel, parents and grandparents should hit the dance floor together, which is why I put together tracks from several decades with my own edits.

You tell me beforehand what matters to you; your guests will notice none of it on the evening. How long the evening will be and when the meal is served, we can settle in advance if you like.

How it works

From the inquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Cologne.

Send me the date and venue, and you will get a reply within 24 hours. A video call, arrangements with the venue and the set-up before the celebration follow.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

You give me the date and venue, and I get back to you the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call commits you to nothing: we get to know each other, collect ideas, and afterwards you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking, the wedding portal opens, a web app for favourite songs, no-gos, special moments and the schedule. About a week beforehand we talk on the phone and go through the programme step by step.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the wedding day I arrive in good time, set up in around 40 minutes, check the sound in the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and service staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, the pieces you have chosen are played. At the reception, subtle lounge music plays, and if there is no power socket outside, the battery steps in.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal the music stays quiet. Speeches go through the wireless microphone, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I pick the fitting track each time.

  6. Opening dance & party

Your requested edit opens the dancing, then I watch the floor and keep adjusting the set until young and old celebrate the last track together.

Everything behind

Three generations often dance at your wedding, which is why soul classics sit alongside current charts. From the first agreement to the final song, the music stays in one pair of hands.

We settle requests and no-gos right at the start, and I take care of contact with the venue and suppliers myself.

Music genres

I mix disco, soul, pop and current chart hits the way your guests take to them on the night, not from a fixed list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Setup and soundcheck take a good 40 minutes, the system needs only 2.5 by 1.5 metres of space, and after the last track I pack everything away myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

For the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit the music runs on a battery, so no cable to a power socket is needed.

Optional: extras

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Cologne want to know.

These are the questions couples ask me most often, and if yours is missing, just give me a call.

+49 176 700 580 27
After dinner we want to keep celebrating in a Cologne brewery pub: can you take care of the music there?

If the brewery pub allows it, I set up a small rig at the edge of the room and mix to your wishes. Whether you need a side room for this and how loud it may be is something you clarify with the landlord.

Some of our guests love Kölsch anthems, others don't: how do you handle that?

I ask you beforehand how many sing-along songs you want and place them at a point in the evening where they disturb nobody. Anyone who doesn't like them still hears their own music on the dance floor.

We want to say our vows on the banks of the Rhine: will the music for the entrance and exit come from you?

Gladly. You tell me the entrance song, the ring exchange music and the exit, and then everything runs from my battery-powered system, with no power outlet needed. Whether a ceremony on the riverbank is allowed, you clear with the city.

Colleagues from the media industry and relatives from the countryside are celebrating with us: how does that fit together?

To start, I pick tracks that almost everyone knows and move on from there in both directions. You enter your favorite tracks and no-gos in the portal beforehand, and I cut the transitions myself so that nothing jolts.

Isn't a DJ overkill for just forty guests?

No, for a small circle I set up a smaller rig that doesn't overwhelm the room. A small area next to the buffet is all I need for the setup.

Our date is in July. How long can we wait before sending you an enquiry?

Saturdays in high summer go early, so you'd better secure yours in good time. Outside the season, a little under half a year's notice has usually been enough. Write to me, and you'll have clarity about your date on the same day.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

If you want live music at the reception or ceremony, I can arrange saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin. We discuss the right timing well before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone sounds warm and light on the terrace in the evening, especially when dusk sets in.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

Percussion gives the beat a boost after dessert, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

Live vocals give your celebration the shine of a concert, and once the party starts the microphone can be passed to the guests.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin accompanies your entrance and turns dinner into a festive opening that stays in your guests' memories for a long time.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Ballermann, après-ski, schlager hits?
A few songs here and there if it suits the mood – no problem.
But build a whole evening on them? That's not my thing.

There are DJs who can and want to do that.
    There are specialists for it.
    Nothing against them.
But it's not what I do.

I'm a specialist in live mixing at demanding events.
For people who understand that music is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right track at the right moment.
    Not just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you – then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
If it does – I'd love to.
