Celebrations in the Quadratestadt
A museum foyer, a palace hall or a park pavilion each sounds different, and I shape my suggestion for your room around where you are celebrating. Four venues come into question for your birthday: a park with several rooms, a baroque palace, an art museum and a technology museum.
Your party in Mannheim can take place in the park, in the baroque palace, among art or in the technology museum. Whether just a handful of friends come or half the extended family decides the size of my system; you simply give me the address of the invitation.
If you celebrate at home, whether in the living room, on the balcony or in the garden, a slim setup is enough for me, and if there is no power outlet, the battery helps. We settle space, power and setup time in advance so that you are not tied up with the equipment in the evening.
The Luisenpark explicitly lists milestone birthdays among its private celebrations. According to the operator, the Green Garden on the upper floor of the main entrance can hold up to 70 guests, and the Unterwasserwelt up to 60. In such small groups I stay with the compact setup and adjust the music so that conversation remains possible.
At the Barockschloss Mannheim, private customers can celebrate birthdays for all age groups, including a costumed tour; as a room, the venue lists the Rittersaal with 360 square metres. Whether a dozen or a hundred guests are standing there determines the equipment I bring.
The Kunsthalle Mannheim rents out its atrium for private celebrations, which it recommends for festive dinners, as well as the Terrasse der Freunde for receptions. A birthday among exhibition spaces calls for quiet equipment; I clarify in advance what is allowed in the room.
At the Technoseum, a workers' pub with an event space is part of the offering, which the operator describes as having historic flair. For a celebration in this setting I choose a sound system that suits the room, and we will discuss it together in advance.

Who I am
You invite to Mannheim, I bring the sound. I started in 1998 in a nightclub, and private and corporate celebrations were added later, more than 1450 in total. For me a successful party needs no rigid plan, but someone who listens.
With me, classics and current hits blend in my own edits so that older and younger guests dance together. Tell me your wishes and no-gos beforehand, and everything runs without much staging, so you can celebrate relaxed yourself. Before that, we talk calmly about your guests and the room.
How it works
Send me the date and venue of your party, and I will get back to you the same or the next day, followed by a video call, setup and the party.
Request a dateYou will hear from me within a day of your inquiry at the latest. In a short video call you tell me about your celebration, and right after that your quote is in your inbox.
When you book, you get my mobile number, because WhatsApp is the shortest way to reach me. A week before the party, we go through song requests, no-gos and the schedule together.
I set up before the guests arrive; I need one to two hours for the equipment and soundcheck. I clarify any open questions with you or the venue, so everything runs smoothly later.
Quiet lounge music helps your guests arrive and start talking. For the birthday guest of honor or a special moment, I pick the track that fits exactly.
I set the right tone for each part of the evening: background music during dinner, a microphone for speeches and announcements, songs for games, surprises and the cutting of the cake.
Once the dance floor is open, I take over completely. I read the crowd, steer the set spontaneously in their direction and keep young and old on the floor until the last song fades out.

I build the set for your birthday so that it fits only you, and I keep developing it throughout the evening. Songs from different decades get even those on the floor who only meant to watch. A balcony, a garden or the living room is enough for me, and I carry my compact setup in myself. If a slideshow is running or someone is giving a speech, I turn the music down right away.

I mix new hits and classics from many decades, and I collect your requests in advance instead of stubbornly working through a list at the booth.
A good two hours before the first guest, my equipment is set up and sound-checked, and after the celebration I pack everything up on my own. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or elevators) setup takes around 40 minutes.
You alone decide which extras to add, whether lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book; I take care of the arrangements.

If your venue has a decent sound system, I connect to it; if it is not much good, I set up my own speakers. For very small groups I turn the sound down far enough that you can still talk.
Of course, just let me know: a wireless microphone always hangs ready at the booth, and you can step up to the mic yourself at any time. If you have friends with a toast or a game, they are welcome to grab the mic too. How often I make announcements myself is up to you, and we settle it beforehand.
Anytime: call the title out to me or briefly let me know at the booth. If a request does not fit the mood at that moment, I move it to a later point in the set. Your list is the foundation, and your guests are welcome to help shape the evening.
If you are celebrating a milestone birthday in a fixed venue, a few months of lead time are worthwhile, because I assign popular Saturdays first. If the group is small, a lead time of just a few weeks is often enough for me. If time is short, give me a call: you will find out from me right away whether your day is still free.
Yes, I will arrange a saxophonist from my network for you, who plays live along with my mix, and you get his contact. I can also arrange vocals, violin or percussion for you. We clarify at what time the performance benefits you most in the first conversation.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
