Celebrating in Oldenburg (Oldb)
Room, guest numbers, mood of the crowd: that is what I go by in deciding whether a pub with a garden needs slim speakers or a banquet hall more punch. Your birthday can take place in five venues: in the banquet hall with a beer garden, in the party room near the station, in the boiler house at the water tower, in the pub with a garden in the south or in the Gesellschaftshaus with a conservatory.
You can celebrate your birthday in Oldenburg at an inn with a garden, in a banquet hall or in the former boiler house. How much equipment I bring depends on the room and the number of guests.
Your guests may include university friends, neighbours and relatives from the surrounding area, and each group listens to something different. I divide the evening into blocks so that no group is neglected and the floor doesn't empty.
The venue lists birthdays explicitly as an occasion and mentions a banquet hall, a beer garden and a conservatory. Depending on whether you want to dance inside or sit outside, I spread the music across the areas you use.
The party room lists birthdays, weddings, Christmas parties and disco parties, spreads over two levels and suits 25 to 200 people. Your own DJ is possible there, so we discuss early on where my system goes and how the levels are used.
The Alte Fleiwa is in the former boiler house at the foot of the water tower and lists private celebrations alongside business events; its rooms range from the Mensa and Colloquien to a tower room with a view over the rooftops. For your group, we look for the room in which the dance floor feels full.
The inn hosts celebrations from small gatherings to large parties of up to 150 guests and has halls with coloured lighting as well as a park-like garden. If you celebrate in a small circle, a slim setup is enough; for a big crowd, I bring more.
The Gesellschaftshaus lists family celebrations, a winter garden and a summer garden, and describes a stylish ambience. Since conversation is part of the evening there, I keep the music low at the start and only build it up once your guests feel like dancing.

Who I am
How your birthday in Oldenburg should sound is up to you; I translate it into music. I started behind the mixing desk of a nightclub; today more than 1450 celebrations are on my list, from weddings to company parties, and my experience goes back over 25 years. For me a birthday doesn't come with a fixed schedule, but with a DJ who listens.
My own edits blend classics and current hits so that your neighbours, colleagues and the aunt from the countryside all dance together. Tell me in advance what matters to you and what must never be played, and then you can join in the celebration yourself.

Send me the date and place, and I will reply the same or the next day; after that it continues by video call and arrangements until the first song.

After you book, you receive my mobile number. I am quickly reachable on WhatsApp, and about a week before the party we settle requests, no-gos and the schedule.
Before your guests arrive, I set up the equipment, do a soundcheck and look at the room. Open questions I clear up with you or the venue, so that the evening starts calmly.
Subtle lounge music plays as guests arrive, creating room for conversation. For the birthday guest of honour or a special moment, I choose music that suits it.
I give the evening's programme points the right tone: music for the meal, a microphone for speeches and announcements, tracks for games, surprises and the cutting of the cake.
As soon as the dance floor is open, I take the helm. I read the mood, change the set on the spur of the moment and keep young and old moving until the last song fades out.

Current hits and classics from many decades play side by side with me, I collect your requests in advance, and when in doubt the dance floor shows the way.
I arrive in good time before your guests, check the equipment in the room and take everything down myself after the party. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup area, no stairs or lifts) the setup takes around 40 minutes.
You decide which extras to add: lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book, and I coordinate the rest.

+49 176 700 580 27Yes, singalong tracks are part of it, and I sense when your group is calling for them. Tell me your must-have songs in advance, and I will work them in at the right moment.
We agree beforehand where the focus lies, and I set up where the dancing happens. For outdoors I use a pair of compact speakers that carry conversation rather than drowning it out.
I open with songs that everyone in any group knows and watch who gets up first. After that I follow up with what you told me beforehand.
Microphones are ready, you don't need to bring anything. Beforehand we agree when the serenade comes, so that I can bring the music down in time.
Winter is well booked because of the many year-end parties, so get in touch early; for small celebrations a few weeks are often enough. You will get a reply from me about your preferred date within a day.
I build both up in blocks and bring them together so that nobody feels left out. Which direction matters most to you first, we settle in the preliminary chat.

Transparency
Hours of nothing but Ballermann and schlager? A few hits of that kind can work well at a birthday party when the mood is right, which is why they have their place with me too. Building a whole evening on them is not my line, though. I'm also not your DJ for techno with no connection to the crowd, for a list ticked off title by title, or for festivals with several stages. There are colleagues who are really good at that and love it; nothing against them, it's simply not my territory.
What I do is live mixing for guests who want an evening with feeling: clean transitions, the right title at the right moment, more than letting a playlist run. That is why I tell you openly beforehand what doesn't suit me, so that you aren't disappointed on the night.
