Michael Zimmermann at the DJ booth at a wedding in Oberhausen

Wedding DJ Oberhausen · Events since 2004

Your wedding between the canal, the palace and Neue Mitte.

I am Michael Zimmermann, and for your wedding in Oberhausen I shape the music so that grandparents and friends from the office stand on the dance floor together: quiet at the sparkling wine reception, powerful as soon as the first dance has faded. Over 25 years, more than 1450 events have added up with me, over 650 of them weddings. Your story is the centre of attention, and the music works for it. beats per micha: Michael Zimmermann, wedding DJ, available to book in Oberhausen and the surrounding area.

Wedding venues in Oberhausen

Weddings in Oberhausen.

Whether brick hall, palace hall or boathouse on the canal: to me the sound behaves differently in each of these rooms. That is why I always ask about the room and the number of guests at the first consultation. Palace wing, boathouse and factory grounds: these are the three venues in Oberhausen where you can celebrate. How the technology and the programme fit each of them, we clarify together.

Canal bank or factory hall: a wedding in Oberhausen

Oberhausen gives you the choice between a palace hall in the Kaisergarten, a terrace on the Rhine-Herne Canal and grounds where zinc was once processed. Each of these places calls for a different setup, so I only plan the booth and speakers once I know your room.

High brick walls throw sound back differently from curtains and carpet, which is why I listen to the empty room before your celebration. What must not be played under any circumstances and which tracks you definitely want to hear, you enter in the portal; add a theme right along with it. Setup takes around 40 minutes, after which I walk through the hall once more and check the sound.

Schlosserei in the Zentrum Altenberg

Hansastraße, Oberhausen

The Schlosserei is the small art hall on the grounds of the former zinc factory and, according to the operator, holds up to 200 people in several seating layouts. The venue rents out its rooms only with its own service. You ask the centre in advance whether we may set up our own DJ equipment there.

Schloss Gastronomie Kaisergarten

Schloss Oberhausen, Oberhausen

In the side wing of the palace, the Graf-Westerholt-Saal holds up to 120 seated guests, and together with the Prinzensaal up to 220. The venue lists weddings as an occasion. You discuss with the venue which part of the room remains for the dance floor and speakers, and then we coordinate the setup.

Bootshaus Oberhausen

Rhine-Herne Canal, Oberhausen

The boathouse lies on the canal with a view of the Gasometer and has its own landing stage. Inside there is room for up to 160 people, and with the outdoor area and two terraces up to 400. The venue explicitly mentions weddings, including tiny weddings. Since it counts DJs as part of its entertainment, you ask in advance whether your own DJ is possible.

All details about the rooms come from the operators' websites (as of October 2026). Only the venue can tell you whether your date is free and what equipment it permits.

Ceremony in Oberhausen

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Guests come to a wedding in Oberhausen from all over the Ruhr area, and not everyone knows the same songs. That is why I ask you both about the tracks nobody in your families wants to miss, and I combine them into custom edits.

You collect your wishes and no-gos at your leisure in advance, and on the night nobody notices any of it. We settle the menu, speeches and daily schedule early, and if you like, we go through the programme together. I show you step by step how I work in the video call.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Oberhausen.

Date and venue are enough to start. After my reply within 24 hours come the video call, the conversation with the venue and, on the day itself, the setup.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

Tell me the date and venue, and I reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call does not commit you: we get to know each other and gather ideas, and then you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking, the wedding portal is unlocked, a web app for favourite tracks, no-gos, special moments and the schedule. About a week before the celebration we go through the day by phone, point by point.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the day itself I am at the venue early, set up in about 40 minutes, listen to the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and service staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, the tracks you chose play. At the reception, calm lounge music plays, and if there is no power outlet within reach outside, the battery takes over.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal the music steps back; a wireless microphone is ready for speeches, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I choose a separate track each.

  6. Opening dance & party

The dancing starts with your requested edit, after which I watch the dance floor and keep adjusting the set until young and old celebrate the last track together.

Everything behind
the mix

Several generations will probably meet at your celebration, so I place soul classics next to current charts. From the first conversation to the last track, the music is in one pair of hands.

Which track comes next depends on the mood in the hall; the microphone belongs to your speakers, and I only appear for announcements.

We discuss requested tracks and no-gos right at the start, and I handle the coordination with the venue and service providers myself.

Music genres

Whether soul, disco, pop or current charts: the dance floor decides the mix, not a prepared list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Setup and soundcheck take a good 40 minutes, the system needs 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last track I pack everything away myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

Symbolic wedding ceremony

For an outdoor ceremony, a battery powers the system; the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit need no mains connection.

Optional: extras

Photo station, live music, uplights and audio guestbook can be added to your booking, and I take care of the coordination.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Oberhausen want to know.

Here is what couples usually ask me before booking, and for anything else you can simply call me.

+49 176 700 580 27
We want to celebrate in a former factory hall near the main station: how do you get the echo under control?

I listen to the empty room before I set up the speakers and aim them so that stone and steel reflect as little as possible. That way your speakers can be understood all the way to the last row.

Our wedding will have three generations at the table: how do you stop the older guests from leaving early and the younger ones from waiting around?

I pace the evening: classics for the older guests early on, then tracks that bridge several decades, and the faster pieces only late. That is how I spread the energy over many hours.

Our guests are coming from Essen, Duisburg and Bottrop, some earlier, some later: how do you keep the evening together?

I give you an arc of tension in advance: calm tracks for the meal, a block for the older guests early in the evening, then the dance floor for everyone. Anyone who only joins the party steps into a mix that already has momentum.

Our party takes place on a Friday in early summer in Oberhausen: from which month should we contact you?

Get in touch as soon as the date and venue are fixed, because I assign dates in the order enquiries arrive. I will let you know within a day whether the Friday is still available.

We're only 40 guests: is a DJ worth it for such a small celebration?

Even small groups benefit from good music, and my setup of 2.5 by 1.5 metres does not overwhelm the space. I keep my volume low enough that conversation at your tables stays possible.

Our first dance should be to a song that only exists as a live recording: can you make that work?

Send me the recording beforehand; I will listen through its sound and length and level it to match the other tracks. If you wish, I can trim the intro so you have time to walk onto the dance floor.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

If you'd like live music for the reception or ceremony, I arrange saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network. We'll work out in good time which instrument suits which moment.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone accompanies the outdoor drinks reception and sounds warmer and warmer as the evening light fades, until the guests go inside for dinner.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

Percussion sets the pulse after dessert and fills the dance floor before anyone has to be asked.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

Live vocals give your celebration the glow of a concert, and at the party the singer is happy to hand the microphone to your guests.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin leads you in for the entrance and turns dinner into a festive opening that your guests will remember.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

Party classics like Ballermann, après-ski and schlager hits?
I'm happy to play the odd one of those when the mood is right.
Building the whole evening on them, though, isn't for me.

There are other DJs who love doing exactly that, and do it well.
They are the right choice for it.
    I have nothing against them.
    It's just not my thing.

My field is live mixing at demanding events.
For guests who see music as a craft.
    Clean transitions.
The right track for the right moment.
    More than just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you, I'm not the right DJ, and that's perfectly fine.
If it does, I'm looking forward to meeting you.
