Celebrations on the Weser
Whether it's a hall with a harbour view, a foyer or a living room: depending on the room, your party needs more or less sound equipment, so I ask beforehand about size, flooring and neighbours. The options include a hotel above the Weser dyke, a museum with several halls by the water and a city hotel with four event rooms.
In Bremerhaven you can celebrate in the museum by the Weser dyke, in a hotel with a panoramic view over the harbour or in a pub in Lehe or Geestemünde; each of these places has its own sound, and I tune my system to it.
For a party in a terraced house or a garden house I bring only a small system that still sounds full. Show me your rooms briefly and tell me about the neighbours, and I'll know how loud I can go.
The hotel stands by the Weser dyke and lists a celebration area on Deck 1 that holds up to 140 guests. The Captain's Lounge on the 19th floor offers a view over Bremerhaven and the Weser. Whether your birthday is possible there, you ask the hotel; afterwards we decide how much space remains for dancing.
The house by the Weser dyke lists private celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays and receptions and rents out, among others, the New York Hall and the Ditzen-Blanke Hall. Which space suits your group, you clarify with the house. Where I set up, we agree with the house.
The hotel lists celebrations from weddings to corporate parties and offers four event rooms. The Karma Kitchen holds up to 50 guests, and the Galerie Weinrot has access to the Pocket Park. If you plan a larger group, the Bibliothek with its balcony has room for up to 80 guests; whether your birthday is possible there, you ask the hotel.

Who I am
Your birthday in Bremerhaven should sound like you, so I first ask who is coming: colleagues from the shipyard or the office, friends from school days, relatives from the other side of the Weser. From your requests and my suggestions I build a framework that I reshape in the evening according to the mood.
If a request does not fit at the moment, I bring it in half an hour later. I am also interested in whether you would rather let the evening wind down at the table or keep dancing until the end. That way your party stays in motion, from the first toast to the last round.

When you book, you get my mobile number, because WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach me. About a week before the party, we sort out requests, no-gos and the schedule.
Setup takes about 40 minutes, and I allow enough time beforehand to handle the equipment and soundcheck calmly. I clear up any last questions with you or the venue so nothing goes wrong.
Quiet lounge music helps your guests arrive and get into conversation. For you and the special moments, I pick tracks that belong to you.
I give the programme of your evening the right sound: music during the meal, the microphone for speeches and announcements, the right tracks for games, surprises and the cutting of the cake.
As soon as the floor is free, I take over. I watch the mood, adapt the set on the spot to your guests and keep young and old on the dance floor until the last song fades out.

My setup needs about 2.5 by 1.5 metres of space, and after the party I clear everything away myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes about 40 minutes.
Which extras get added is entirely up to you, whether lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book; I take care of the coordination.

Tell me beforehand who performs something and when, and I'll bring the music down at the right moment and build it back up afterwards. I have a wireless microphone with me, and with the next track I get you and your guests dancing again.
To open, I pick songs from the common ground of your guests and then feel my way towards the edges, depending on what lands with them. I work in a request from the corner as soon as it fits the mood.
For a milestone birthday in a hall you should get in touch a few months ahead, because the popular Saturdays are booked early. A small party often has more room to manoeuvre; if it is urgent, just tell me, and within 24 hours you will know whether I am free.
That works: on request I bring someone from my network with a saxophone, voice, violin or drums, who plays over my mix. You decide the timing.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
