Celebrations in Düsseldorf
Whether a brewery pub with a knights' hall, a variety theatre with dinner or a cellar in a palace: every room carries music differently, and I shape my suggestion for your party accordingly. Your birthday in Düsseldorf can take place wherever you like: in an Altbier brewery pub, in a variety theatre or in the cellar of a palace. I introduce five venues and what they offer for celebrations.
You can celebrate your birthday in Düsseldorf in a brewery pub in the Altstadt, in a variety theatre or in the cellar of a palace; depending on the venue, I choose speakers and volume. You tell me where you are inviting before I start planning.
If you celebrate at home or on the roof terrace, I bring a small set from the car that can run on battery if needed. I ask you about the room and the power source in advance, and a good 40 minutes before the first guests ring the bell, everything is ready.
The venue lists the Rittersaal, Stickum, Neweaan and Brauhof, among others, for celebrations and gatherings, and the brewery pub itself opened in 1974. You clarify with the venue which rooms can be reserved for your birthday before you commit. During the meal I keep the music low, and later it can get louder.
The vaulted cellar of the orangery holds around 60 people at banquets, and the foundation lists birthdays among its occasions. In a vault I bring in a compact set and position it so that the sound does not boom.
The Malkasten has existed since 1848 and lists the Jacobihaus, the theatre hall and the artists' cellar for hire. For a milestone birthday with a stage behind you or in the vaulted cellar, we talk about the room early.
The variety theatre offers Show & Dine with a restaurant and artists' plate and mentions group events. For an evening with a programme, I coordinate with the venue so that my music fits before and after the show.
According to the venue, the restaurant in the Museum Kunstpalast is part of the arrangements for parties at the Ehrenhof. Whether and how music may be played there is up to the venue, and I then adjust volume and setup accordingly.

Who I am
You celebrate in Düsseldorf, I take care of the sound. I started in a discotheque, later private and corporate celebrations followed, now over 1450 events. A celebration without a rigid schedule needs someone who watches the room attentively, and I take care of that.
From classics and new tracks I cut my own edits so that friends from the old town and relatives from the countryside dance together. Tell me your wishes and no-gos beforehand, and you can enjoy the evening yourself. Tell me about your favourite tracks in the first conversation, and I will explain how I shape phases for the evening from them.
How it works
Give me the date and the place, and you will hear from me by the next day at the latest. A video call, the arrangements with the venue and the set-up follow.

When you book, you get my mobile number, because WhatsApp is the quickest way to sort most things out. A week before the party we go through requests, no-gos and the schedule.
Before your guests arrive, I am in the room, set up the equipment in about 40 minutes and do the sound check. We clarify open questions with you or the venue so that everything runs unobtrusively later.
For arrivals, calm lounge music plays so your guests get talking. For you as the birthday guest of honour and for special moments, I find the right track.
The programme has its music too: quiet during dinner, a microphone for speeches and announcements, fitting pieces for games, surprises and cutting the cake.
As soon as people dance, I take over completely, read the mood and change the set according to the guests, until the last song plays.

Your set is created that evening, just for you, and grows with the mood. Tracks from several decades bring even those onto the floor who first only wanted to watch. A flat, an attic or a backyard is enough for me, because I carry my compact setup in myself. If a slideshow is running or someone is speaking, I turn the music down straight away.

Setup takes around 40 minutes, the equipment takes up about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and I tidy up myself after the party. About 2.5 m width and 1.5 m depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

+49 176 700 580 27That depends on the landlord, so you first ask whether music and a small DJ desk in the room are allowed. If so, I set up at the edge and keep the volume suitable for the venue.
A wireless microphone is ready for you. As soon as your brother starts, I fade the music out and bring it back in after the speech, and whether I make announcements in between is up to you.
I plan for both and place jazz and soul where they lift the mood instead of working against the charts. The tracks you wave off, you pass on to me in advance.
Milestone birthdays at the weekend go early, so I advise you to allow a few months' lead time. For a small group it often works at short notice too. Just write me your date, and I will get back to you with the answer the same day.
Yes, from my network a saxophonist or a singer can play live over the mix, and violin or percussion are possible too. You decide when the performance fits, and we discuss the rest in the first conversation.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
