I am Michael Zimmermann and I play live at your birthday in Frankfurt, track by track according to the guests celebrating around you. I started in 1998, I have been playing private parties since 2004, and after more than 1,450 events I recognise early where the mood is heading. Celebrations on the Main
A restaurant hall, a villa or a ship's saloon each call for a different sound, and I tailor my suggestion for your room to where you celebrate. Five venues are available for your birthday: a design hotel with a tower bar, the rooms of an art association on the Römerberg, a villa in the Palmengarten, a hotel restaurant on Opernplatz and a ship on the Main.
In Frankfurt you celebrate, as you wish, in a hotel restaurant, an exhibition hall, a villa in the park or on board a ship. I adapt my system to whether a handful of friends or a big family come, and you only tell me where the invitation goes.
If your party takes place at home, in the living room or in the garden, I pack a handy set that can manage on battery if need be. How much space, power and set-up time I get, we clarify beforehand, so that on the day itself you have time for your guests.
In its Meeting & Events section, the Gerbermühle lists festive occasions, exclusive celebrations and private dining, among others. According to the operator, the venue has room for up to 500 guests and more, and for smaller groups there are two suites and a tower bar. With such a wide range, I only set up once I know how many guests you expect.
The Frankfurter Kunstverein in the Steinernes Haus on the Römerberg rents out its rooms for private and social occasions. According to the operator, the exhibition halls have room for up to 200 people. Among the artworks I keep my set-up slim and ask beforehand what is permitted in the room.
According to the operator, the Villa Leonhardi can be rented for events, in the daytime in the Grüner Salon and the foyer, in the evening as the whole villa with garden hall and terrace. About 30 people are mentioned for the day and about 50 for the evening. With such a manageable group I set up small and tune the music to your conversation.
The Sofitel Frankfurt Opera lists birthdays and private occasions at the Schönemann restaurant, in the summer garden as well as in private dining. The operator mentions the Le Marais ballroom with up to 180 guests at the banquet. Whether you celebrate at a small table or in the large hall determines how much equipment I bring.
The Primus-Linie lists anniversaries and family gatherings as occasions on its ships; five ships from the Wikinger to the Nautilus are available. According to the operator, the Wikinger has 118 seats inside and 115 outside. How I fit in with my music on board, I clarify beforehand with you and the operator.

Who I am
You invite people to Frankfurt, I bring the sound. I have stood at the decks since 1998, first in the nightclub, from 2004 at private and corporate celebrations, so far at more than 1,450 events. For me a good party needs no fixed plan, but someone who listens.
My edits let classics and current hits flow into one another, so that your older and younger guests dance along. Tell me your wishes and no-gos beforehand, and the evening succeeds without a big show, and you can celebrate along in a relaxed way yourself.
How it works
Send me the date and place of your party, and on the same or the next day I reply to you, followed by a video call, set-up and the party. Questions in between I answer myself.
Request a dateAfter your enquiry it takes at most one day until you hear from me. In the short video call you tell me about your birthday, and afterwards you receive your quote.
With the booking you receive my mobile number, because WhatsApp is the shortest line. Seven days before the party we go through requested songs, no-gos and schedule together.
Before the guests arrive I set up; one to two hours are enough for me for the equipment and the sound check. I clarify last questions with you or the venue, so that everything runs calmly and unobtrusively.
Subtle lounge music lets the guests find their way into conversation calmly as they arrive. For the birthday guest of honour or a special moment, I choose the music that fits exactly.
The programme of the evening gets the right tone from me: music for the meal, the microphone for speeches and announcements, tracks for games, surprises and the cake cutting.
As soon as the dance floor is open, everything is in my hands. I read the mood, change the set spontaneously according to the guests and keep young and old on the floor until the last song plays.

For your birthday I put together a set that belongs only to you and develop it further over the course of the evening. Tracks from different decades also bring onto the floor the guests who only wanted to watch. A balcony, a garden or the living room is enough for me, because I carry my compact set-up in myself. If a slideshow is running or someone is speaking, I take the music down immediately.

Current hits play alongside classics from many decades, and I collect your requested tracks beforehand, without stubbornly working through a list at the booth.
A good two hours before your guests arrive, my equipment is set up and sound-checked, and after the party I dismantle everything myself. About 2.5 m width and 1.5 m depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up location, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.
Which extras are added is entirely your decision, whether lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book, and I handle the coordination.

+49 176 700 580 27Even a small group benefits, because I pick up on who wants to dance and play accordingly. If the venue has a decent sound system, I connect to it; if it is weak, I set up my own. For a few guests I keep the equipment quiet, so that your cosy atmosphere stays.
Gladly, there is a wireless microphone at the booth that is yours as soon as you want to say something. Friends with a toast or a game may take it as well, and I speak up only where you wish. How much I host is up to you, and we clarify it beforehand.
Yes, a shout or a quick word at the booth is enough, you do not need a form. If a track does not suit the moment, I note it for later in the set. Your list remains my basis, but your guests also help shape the evening.
For milestone birthdays in a fixed venue we plan best several months ahead, because I give out the most sought-after Saturdays first. For small gatherings a few weeks are often enough for me. If your date is already close, get in touch straight away by phone or message, and on the same day you will know whether I have time.
That works. From my network I can arrange a saxophonist for you who plays live over my mix, and I pass the contact on to you. Vocals, violin or percussion work for you just as well. At what hour the performance brings you the most, we talk through in the first conversation.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
