Celebrations in Hamm
A restaurant hall, a hall with brick walls or the garden at home: which setting it is determines how I tailor my proposal for your celebration. Five addresses show how varied your birthday in Hamm can be: a restaurant in the old Kristall Palast, brick halls, Glaselefant and a moated castle. For each one I note what I pay attention to with the equipment.
In Hamm people celebrate in restaurants, club houses, halls from the colliery era and their own gardens, and I adapt to each of these places. Every place needs a different setup, so I first ask about the venue and the number of guests.
If you celebrate at home, I carry in only a compact set and need a power connection. I am ready about 40 minutes before the first guest.
The operator explicitly lists the birthday as an occasion; four rooms, each with its own bar, are set in the historic ambience of the old Kristall Palast and hold up to 600 people. How you can celebrate there, the venue will tell you, and afterwards we plan space and power for my equipment.
The Glaselefant, about 40 metres tall, was created from a former coal washing plant of the Maximilian colliery. According to the park, private celebrations are organised through the catering, and the room measures around 250 square metres. Whether your birthday can take place there is something you clarify with the operator.
The former miners' washhouse was converted in 1984; the main hall has 820 square metres, and up to 350 guests find room at round tables. The operator counts celebrations among the uses. For a milestone birthday with a large circle of guests, that is a benchmark, and whether it is available you find out from the park.
The hall was the heart of the Maximilian colliery, 950 square metres upstairs and 520 downstairs. Celebrations are possible by arrangement, but not in the winter months or during exhibitions. Which dates are free is for the operator to say, and we agree access routes and power with the venue.
In the Lippe floodplain of Heessen lies the moated castle, whose main building was built between 1667 and 1692. According to Wikipedia, the city uses it as an education and conference venue and for receptions. Whether a private birthday is possible there is something the city can answer.
I read up on sizes, rooms and occasions on the operators' websites and on Wikipedia (as of October 2026). Whether your date is free and how many guests fit into the venue can only be said by the respective venue.
Who I am
Your birthday in Hamm should sound like you and not like a standard list. That is why I first ask who is coming: colleagues from the office, the card-game group, nieces and nephews? From your answers a plan with stages emerges, which I keep flexible on the evening.
With my own transitions between classics and new hits I make sure no age group gets lost on your dance floor. You enter your taboos and favourite songs in advance, so that on the evening you can greet your guests instead of worrying about the equipment.

I am in the room before the first guests arrive: setup takes about 40 minutes, then a sound check. Whatever the venue still needs to know, I sort out with you or the staff, so nobody has to search on the night.
Calm lounge music plays as guests arrive, so that they find their way into conversation. For you as the birthday guest of honour I choose a track of your own, and likewise for special moments.
Programme items get their music too: quiet during the meal, a microphone for speeches, fitting pieces for games, surprises and the cake cutting, so every moment has its own sound.
As soon as people start dancing, I take over completely, watch the guests and keep adjusting the set until the last song has faded.

Setup takes about 40 minutes, the system needs roughly 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and I clear up myself after the party. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.
You can add lighting, a photo station, live music and an audio guest book if you need them, and I take care of the coordination.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
