Celebrating in Potsdam
Fireside room, garden house or brick cultural building: describe your room to me in a few words, because that is how I choose the system and the arrangement. For your party in Potsdam, these addresses are among those that come to mind: the brick Waschhaus, the Meierei on the Jungfernsee, the tropical house in the Volkspark and the Nikolaisaal.
Your birthday in Potsdam can take place in a brick building on the Schiffbauergasse, on a meadow by the water or in the garden behind the house. For a few guests a slim system is enough; if the group gets bigger, I bring more speakers. You tell me where you are celebrating in our preliminary call.
In a living room or garden house, a square of a few metres is enough for me, and without a socket I carry on with battery power. Where the speakers may go and when I come to the house to set up, we clarify beforehand in peace; the set-up takes 40 minutes.
The Royal Garrison Steam Laundry, built between 1880 and 1882, became a cultural venue with around 1,200 square metres on two levels. For a birthday there, I will ask you beforehand whether all guests sit in one room or whether people move between the levels.
The Meierei on the shore of the Jungfernsee was built from 1790 to 1792 to plans by Langhans and has housed a brewery pub since 2003. Please ask the venue directly about how it operates; I then plan the set-up so that conversations at the table are not disturbed.
The Tropenhaus was built for the Bundesgartenschau 2001; according to Wikipedia, the Orangerie hall and the Tropencamp, among others, can be hired. In the warm, humid air among the plants, I will tell you beforehand which corner is suitable for my equipment.
The concert hall with 685 seats reopened in August 2000 after the conversion by Rudy Ricciotti and, according to Wikipedia, can also be hired for private events. For a milestone celebration there, we first clarify whether there will be dancing or whether the hall stays more for listening.

Before I choose a song, I want to understand you: who are you inviting, which pieces belong to your story, what must not be played? I learned the craft in a discotheque, and since then I have accompanied over 1,450 celebrations.
At a birthday in Potsdam, friends from university, family and colleagues often come together, and for this mix I build my own edits in which classics and new hits flow into one another without a break. You celebrate, and I make sure it sounds like your evening.
How it works
Tell me the date and address; you will usually have a reply the same day. A short video call, a reliable set-up, and then the evening belongs to you.

After booking, you get my mobile number; WhatsApp is the fastest channel. One week before the date, we go through requests, no-gos and schedule together.
I set up before the guests arrive; for set-up and sound check I need around 40 minutes. I clarify any open questions with you or the operator of the venue so that everything runs without rush.
Soft lounge music accompanies the arrival and gets conversations started. For the birthday guest or a surprise moment, I choose the fitting tracks specially.
I give the programme of the evening the right sound: background music for dinner, the wireless microphone for speeches, tracks for games, surprises and the cake.
As soon as the floor is free, I take over. I watch the mood, change the set as needed and keep young and old moving until the last song fades.

I put together a set for you that exists only once, and I change it as the evening goes on. Songs from several decades also bring the guests onto the floor who only wanted to watch. A garden house, a terrace or the living room is enough for me, because I carry my small setup in myself. During a slideshow or a speech, I turn the music down immediately.

From disco to house and from rock classics to the charts, the selection depends on your crowd, and I know your requested tracks beforehand without taking the surprises out of the evening.
My equipment is set up on an area of about 2.5 by 1.5 metres long before your guests arrive, I check the sound, and I clear everything away myself after the party. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes about 40 minutes.
You decide which extras to add: lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book, and I take care of the organisation.

Not necessarily, because my compact setup also runs on battery, so a socket nearby is not essential. Tell me beforehand how big your group will be and where you would like to set up.
For a milestone birthday in a fixed venue, get in touch early, because Fridays and Saturdays go first. For a small celebration a few weeks are usually enough, and you will hear back from me by the next day at the latest.

It starts with your short message with date and place. In a video call you tell me about your guests and your favourite tracks, and when the evening gets going, I am open to requests from your crowd.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
