Michael Zimmermann DJs for wedding couples in Potsdam

Wedding DJ Potsdam · Events since 2004

Your wedding in Potsdam should feel like a celebration, not a timetable.

I am Michael Zimmermann, and for your wedding day in Potsdam I put the music together, from the first glass in the garden to the final track. I have been part of over 650 weddings, and I particularly enjoy a mix of family, friends from university days and colleagues, which often comes together in this city. beats per micha: Michael Zimmermann, wedding DJ, available to book in Potsdam and the surrounding area.

Wedding venues in Potsdam

Weddings in Potsdam.

Tropical house, brick hall or lakeside terrace: before I fix the system and the schedule, I ask about the room, the access routes and the neighbourhood, because in Potsdam every venue sounds different. Four venues show how different a wedding in Potsdam can sound: a tropical house in the Volkspark, the brewery on the Jungfernsee, the brick building on the Schiffbauergasse and a concert hall with a baroque façade; for each I plan the set-up and schedule together with you.

Tropical house, brick hall or lakeshore: weddings in Potsdam

You can celebrate your party in Potsdam in the tropical house in the Volkspark, in the brewery by the lake or in the brick building on the water. I first ask about walls, ceilings and floors, because they shape the sound, and then I adjust the speakers and schedule accordingly.

In a brick hall I keep the level lower, while on an open terrace the bass can carry more. If a theme for the evening is set, such as film or a summer party, I shape the track sequence around it, and we note down anything that should not be played in the preliminary conversation. The set-up takes 40 minutes, so I am ready long before the first guests arrive.

Biosphäre Potsdam

Volkspark, Potsdam

For the 2001 Federal Garden Show, a tropical house was built in the Volkspark to plans by the Berlin firm Barkow Leibinger; according to Wikipedia, the Orangerie hall, the Tropencamp and the Luncheon restaurant can be hired for events there. Among palms and warm air, I ask in advance where the dancing will take place, because plants and humidity determine where my equipment may stand.

Meierei im Neuen Garten

Im Neuen Garten, Potsdam

Carl Gotthard Langhans designed the Meierei, which was built on the shore of the Jungfernsee from 1790 to 1792 and has housed a brewery pub since 2003. Please ask the venue directly about how it operates; I align my set-up with that and make sure not to block the view of the lake from the tables.

Waschhaus Potsdam

Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam

The Royal Garrison Steam Laundry was built of brick between 1880 and 1882 and has been a cultural venue since the 1990s, with around 1,200 square metres on two levels. In such an open building, I plan with you whether dining and dancing take place on one level or separately, before I decide on the speakers and routes.

Nikolaisaal

Potsdam

Rudy Ricciotti remodelled the hall, and it reopened on 27 August 2000; it has 685 seats and, according to Wikipedia, can also be hired for private or commercial events. A concert hall is not built for dance music, so I listen to the acoustics before we talk about the volume level.

Construction dates, rooms and uses are taken from Wikipedia, as of October 2026. Only the respective operator can tell you whether your preferred date is free and whether the venue is an option for a celebration.

Humanist wedding ceremony in Potsdam

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

First I ask about you: how did you meet, who is sitting at the table, what must never be played? A DJ booth in a club was my school, and ever since, I have been fascinated by how a room full of generations agrees on music.

Over 650 weddings have shown me that grandparents and university friends rarely get up for the same track, so I cut edits in which decades flow into one another. My role stays quiet: the music does the work, you celebrate. In the end, everything should sound like your day and not like my repertoire.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Potsdam.

Send me a couple of lines about the date and venue; the video call is set for the next day, and after that we sort out your wishes and the equipment right up to the first dance.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

As soon as the date and venue are fixed, you write to me; I usually reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call is free of sales pressure: you get to know me, we exchange ideas, and afterwards your quote is ready.

  2. Booking & portal access

With your booking, you unlock the wedding portal. In this web app, you enter favourite songs, no-gos, special moments and the schedule; about a week before the celebration, we speak on the phone and go through the entries.

  3. Set-up & sound check

While you are still getting dressed, I set up at the venue. The set-up takes around 40 minutes, after which I sound-check the room, go through the running order with the photographer and speaker, and keep the equipment unobtrusive.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, I choose pieces that carry the mood. At the drinks reception, quiet lounge music plays, and outdoors it all works without a power socket, because a battery powers the equipment.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal, I provide a calm soundtrack. Speeches go through a wireless microphone, and games, surprises and the bouquet toss each get their own fitting music.

  6. Opening dance & party

I accompany your opening dance with your requested edit, and then the dancing begins. I watch the floor, adapt the set as needed and keep all generations moving until the last track.

Everything behind
the mix

Three generations on one dance floor are not unusual at weddings, which is why I mix soul, disco and new chart hits in the same set. For everything to do with the music, you have a single point of contact: me.

Hands on the DJ controller in warm backlight

Mixed live, microphone only when needed

Which track comes next, I decide by the mood in the room; I leave the microphone to speeches and programme items.

Festival hall in blue and violet uplighting Add-on

LED uplights colour the walls in your chosen colour, and as the evening goes on, the lighting follows the beat of the music.

FOTOFun station with ring light and instant printer Add-on

A photo station captures the evening in pictures: all the shots end up in a private gallery, and anyone who likes can take a print away straight away.

Phone showing the guests' photo gallery in front of a dance floor with string lights Recommendation

So that your guests' phone photos end up in one place, I recommend Feierblick, an independent service that you book directly with that provider, with no app of your own required.

Pioneer DJ setup in front of a wedding venue with candlelight

Equipment that doesn't stand out

The equipment includes two wireless microphones, lighting effects, a Pioneer or Denon DJ console, and speakers from RCF or Electro-Voice.

White retro telephone as an audio guest book on a table with a velvet cloth Add-on

On the retro telephone, your guests record greetings, and after the celebration I edit them into an audio file as a keepsake for you.

One fixed contact person

I respond to your enquiry within 24 hours, and we stay in touch until the celebration.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We discuss requested tracks and no-gos right at the start, and I take care of the arrangements with the venue and the other suppliers.

Music genres

Disco and soul, 90s hits, current chart music, electronic dance music: which of these is playing at any moment depends on your guests and not on a list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

I arrive in good time before the start, set up on an area of about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, check the sound and dismantle everything myself after the celebration. About 2.5 m in width and 1.5 m in depth is enough for this, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up location, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

Symbolic wedding ceremony

A ceremony in the park or on the shore without a power socket can also be accompanied with music: a battery system carries the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, and you decide the tracks beforehand.

Optional: extras

Photo station, live music, uplights and audio guestbook can be booked together; the coordination goes through me.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Potsdam want to know.

Here is what couples usually ask me before booking, and for anything else you can simply call me.

+49 176 700 580 27
We want to celebrate in a garden by the water in Potsdam and worry that the wind will carry the music away: what do you do about that?

I point the speakers at the dance floor rather than the shore and check the direction before the first guest arrives. For wind and rain, we settle on an indoor plan together in advance.

Some of our guests work in film: can I request film music for the evening?

Gladly. Send me tracks from your favourite films and I will check where in the evening they work. A soundtrack for the entrance or the cake cutting often has more impact than it does on the dance floor.

Our celebration takes place in a listed building: should I expect restrictions on the equipment?

For listed buildings, I ask you about the venue's requirements, such as power, flooring and set-up space. My system stands freely on the floor, and I do not attach anything to the walls.

My parents never dance: do you have a trick to get them to join in anyway?

Not a trick, but a feel for it: I watch which track gets a foot tapping and build my next edit on that. With classics from your parents' youth, I open the door for them, and the rest follows.

Would a female singer be possible for the sparkling wine reception in the park, and how does that fit with your mix?

Yes, I can book a vocalist from my network for you, and she sings to tracks I prepare especially for that moment. Whether a microphone is needed or an accompaniment is enough, we will clarify together in the video call.

We haven't set a date yet: when should we get in touch with you?

It is best to get in touch with two or three preferred dates, and I will tell you within 24 hours which one is free. I book popular summer Saturdays early; otherwise, three to six months' notice is usually enough for me.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

If you would like live music at the sparkling wine reception or during the ceremony, saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network can be matched to my mix. We decide together, well before the celebration, at which moment it works best.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone at the sparkling wine reception in the garden lets the afternoon drift softly into the evening, especially as the sun sinks lower.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After dinner, percussion drives the beat, so the dance floor fills faster and even the shy guests soon join in.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

A singer brings concert atmosphere into the hall, and later your guests sing along at the microphone.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

The violin accompanies your entrance with a solemn sound and gives the meal in the hall a touch of a gala evening.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Non-stop Ballermann, après-ski and schlager?
I'll gladly slip in the right hit when it suits the mood.
A whole evening in that vein, though, is not my style.

Some DJs have specialised in exactly that.
You'll be in good hands with them.
    That's perfectly legitimate.
    I just work differently.

I specialise in live mixing at demanding events.
For anyone who knows that DJing is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right song at the right moment.
More than playing a ready-made playlist.

If that doesn't suit you, I'm not the right DJ, and that's fine.
If it does, then very gladly.
