Celebrating in Remscheid
Farm function room, event venue or living room in Hasten: every room reacts differently to bass and voices, so I tailor the set to it. From the farm function room in Endringhausen to the party room in the district, you can celebrate your birthday in Remscheid. I introduce five addresses so you can see what each one offers.
In the Bergisches Land people like to celebrate in a farm's function room, in an event venue with a bar or privately in their neighbourhood. I only adjust my console and speakers once I know the size of the room and the number of guests.
If your room has a stage, I set up the console there, otherwise we look for a corner with power nearby. My set-up takes 40 minutes, and I am finished before the first guests come through the door.
Birthday is expressly listed among the occasions. Stage, dance floor and bar share one room, and service and drinks are included with every booking. Because the venue provides lighting and sound itself, we discuss beforehand what I contribute.
On the farm, birthdays and family celebrations are named occasions. The function rooms are meant for 40 to 80 people, with a stage area and space to dance. For a setting like this, a slim system that does not drown out conversation at the table is enough for me.
The room measures 100 square metres and is rated for up to 100 people; the operator names birthday parties as an occasion. A sound system, stage, bar and dance floor are available. How we use the house system and the rental system, we settle after you confirm.
The operator lists birthdays alongside weddings and company parties. The capacity goes up to 300 people, and with banquet seating it is around 120. For a party of this size, we discuss early on where the console and speakers will stand.
The venue names milestone birthdays and private parties. The Lichthof is described as a central hall for up to 150 guests, and the forums are smaller. Whether your date is free there is something the operator tells you; after that I choose the system to suit the room and the number of guests.

Who I am
Your birthday in Remscheid should sound like you, and that is exactly what I build the evening around. I learned the craft in the nightclub, and after more than 1450 parties I know the arc of an evening. I blend classics and current hits into my own edits so that colleagues, neighbours and relatives from other cities dance together.
You enter beforehand what you want to hear and what you do not. In the preliminary talk you tell me how long the party runs and when food is served; the equipment is ready before the first guest rings the bell.

I am in the room before your guests, set up the equipment in 40 minutes and do the sound check. If there are steps or a narrow entrance, we have settled the route for the equipment beforehand.
Quiet lounge music plays as guests arrive, so that they start chatting. For you as the birthday guest of honour and for special moments, I pick out a fitting track each time.
The programme gets its own music: during the meal it stays quiet, there is the microphone for speeches, and for games, surprises and cake I choose suitable tracks.
As soon as people dance, I take over completely, watch the mood and adapt the set to your guests until the last song fades out.

For the setup I need 40 minutes and about 2.5 by 1.5 metres of space, and after the party I clear up myself. About 2.5 m in width and 1.5 m in depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) the setup takes about 40 minutes.
Lighting, photo station, live music and audio guest book can be added, and I handle the coordination.

Yes, just at a different pace: I choose oldies, evergreens and waltz classics that let conversation carry on at the table. Anyone who wants to dance still finds the floor, and I quickly sense how much energy the evening can take.

Transparency
Hours of nothing but Ballermann and schlager? A few hits of that kind can work well at a birthday party when the mood is right, which is why they have their place with me too. Building a whole evening on them is not my line, though. I'm also not your DJ for techno with no connection to the crowd, for a list ticked off title by title, or for festivals with several stages. There are colleagues who are really good at that and love it; nothing against them, it's simply not my territory.
What I do is live mixing for guests who want an evening with feeling: clean transitions, the right title at the right moment, more than letting a playlist run. That is why I tell you openly beforehand what doesn't suit me, so that you aren't disappointed on the night.
