Michael Zimmermann is my name, and as a party DJ I shape your birthday in Ulm live, track by track according to the guests at your table. I've been playing music for over 25 years, private celebrations have been my everyday life since 2004, and over 1450 events have taught me to read moods early. You don't need me in the spotlight; with you, what counts is the evening that the music carries.

Celebrations on the Danube and in Wiblingen
For your birthday I ask the house beforehand for the room size and power connections, so that I can tune my set-up to your guest numbers. Here you find six venues for your birthday: a timber domed hall and a library hall in Wiblingen, a hotel hall with a view of the Danube, a festival house with a large terrace, a vault in the old town and a house brewery.
Ulm lies where the Blau flows into the Danube, and the rooms in which you can celebrate your birthday turn out just as varied. Sometimes it is a vaulted cellar in the old town, sometimes a bright hotel hall, and each sets me different tasks. What matters to me is less the name of the venue than your number of guests, because it determines how much system you really need.
If you prefer to celebrate at home, in the garden or in a club house, I set up a slim set for you that, if needed, lasts without a socket thanks to a built-in battery. For a yard or terrace I ask beforehand whether I may set up outdoors and where the equipment stays dry. We clarify power, access and set-up time a few days beforehand, so that on the day of the party all you have left to do is raise your glass.
The Hotel und Gasthof Löwen in Wiblingen lists birthdays among its occasions. According to the operator, the historic wooden domed hall has room for up to 120 people, with a dance floor and space for a band or DJ. I bring my system and set it up so that the DJ area and your dance floor work well together.
The Kloster Wiblingen lists birthdays as an occasion in a historic monument. For a standing reception, the Bibliothekssaal offers room for up to 168 guests, according to the operator. How I place my equipment in such a special room, we discuss together as soon as you have decided on it.
The Maritim Hotel Ulm lists birthdays among its occasions. According to the operator, the Saal Bonn offers space for up to 110 people, the Kepler Saal offers more space, and the Saal Bonn opens up a view of the Danube. My set-up depends on the hall you choose and the size of your group.
Elis Palace lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, large celebrations of up to 250 people are possible, small ones from 40 people, and there is also a large terrace. Whether you celebrate small or big, I tailor my equipment accordingly and plan the set-up with you.
The Restaurant Krone in the old town lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, the Kronenstuben hold up to 45 people, the Kronenkeller as a vaulted cellar up to 85. For the vaulted cellar I choose a set-up that fills the room without overwhelming it.
The Barfüßer Hausbrauerei Ulm lists birthdays as an occasion for private events on request. Which areas you can use for your party, you ask the venue directly. I base my equipment on the space you get there and agree the set-up with you.

Who I am
In Ulm the Schwörwochenende ends with the Nabada, and your birthday may run just as exuberantly. I have stood behind the decks since 1998, starting in the club, since 2004 at private and business parties, over 1450 events. I stay in the background, with me the music speaks, and you have fun with your guests.

Request a dateWhen your enquiry comes in, I get in touch the same day or the next. In the short video call I get to know you and your party plans, and afterwards you receive an offer from me.
Whoever books gets my private mobile number for WhatsApp. A joint round of details follows about seven days before the party, where we fix song requests, no-gos and the schedule.
The system is in place long before the first guests: I am there one to two hours earlier, set everything up and do the soundcheck. I sort out anything necessary with the venue or with you.
Quiet lounge music fills the room while the guests arrive and makes sure conversations start quickly. For the birthday guest of honour and special moments, I use music that fits exactly.
Atmospheric music is part of the meal, and for speeches or announcements I pick up the microphone. Games, surprises and the cake each get the right soundtrack.
Anyone who wants to dance gets their chance now: I take over, watch the reactions on the floor and adapt my set in real time. All generations celebrate together until the last song fades out.

Yes, the wireless microphone is at your disposal all evening, you just give me a sign. I turn the music down, you speak, and afterwards I pick up where we left off. I keep my own announcements short, because I am not a host.
Your list is my compass for the evening, one I follow without ticking it off. What matters to you gets its place, and tracks your guests call out I work in at the right moment. A song that would just slow the mood down I push back.
The good Saturdays are booked early, so for milestone birthdays in a fixed venue an early message to me is worthwhile. A smaller party can often still be fitted in with me at a few weeks' notice. Write me your date, I will get back to you within 24 hours and tell you whether the day is free with me.
Yes, from my circle I can bring you a saxophonist, a singer, a violinist or a percussionist if you like, and I take care of the arrangements for you. The live part layers over my transitions as a performance, without the music stalling. When it suits you best, we clarify before your party.

My way to your party is short: you send me the date, place and approximate number of guests, we talk by video about your favourite music, and on the day of the party I listen to your guests.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
