Corporate parties in Mainz
Hall, vault or salon ship: in a state capital on the Rhine the venues are very different, so I first ask about program and room. Six venues, from the Alte Lokhalle through the Halle am Rhein to the ship, show the range for your company evening: a gala in a large hall, a conference with an evening program or a smaller party.
What you can book in Mainz ranges from the Alte Lokhalle with 900 square metres on the ground floor to the meeting rooms of the Rheingoldhalle on the banks of the Rhine. The equipment I bring depends on the chosen room; so first I would like to know the occasion, format and number of participants.
On a Primus-Linie ship, the operator's own conditions apply, and we clarify beforehand how my music fits in. In the Kurfürstliches Schloss I deliberately keep the sound discreet. We record the schedule of meal, speeches and dance floor in the briefing each time, and I take care of setup and teardown myself.
The Alte Lokhalle lists evening galas, conferences and trade fairs among its occasions. According to the operator, the ground-floor hall has 900 square metres with 800 seats in rows or 500 at round tables, plus a foyer, a lounge and The Club. In such a large hall I plan the sound system and setup with you early on.
The Rheingoldhalle opened in 1968 and reopened in January 2022 after a fire and renovation. According to Wikipedia, it offers 9,000 square metres of event space and more than 20 meeting rooms with direct access to the Hilton Hotel. With so many rooms, I clarify in advance which part of the building your evening takes place in.
The Kurfürstliches Schloss, built from 1627, serves as an event building in its north wing with the Akademiesaal and is marketed by mainzplus as a conference and event venue. Historic rooms carry sound differently from modern halls, so I listen to the room with you beforehand.
According to the operator, the parkhotel offers 1,300 square metres of conference space, divisible into up to 15 rooms for 5 to 400 people, at ground level with direct access to the park. For your party, rooms can be combined, and how much equipment I plan for depends on the size you choose.
The Eulchen Brauerei lists corporate events and conferences as separate areas of its event location at the Kupferberg on its website. You can find out about the rooms from the venue, and I only coordinate my setup once it is clear where the programme and the dance floor will be.
The Primus-Linie lists staff parties, anniversaries, Christmas parties and conferences as occasions on board and sails from Mainz. According to the operator, a charter on the Wikinger is possible from 20 people. A ship has its own rules, so I clarify with the operator in advance what is available on board for the music.

Who I am
How your evening in Mainz is structured determines my music planning: first the welcome, then speeches, finally dancing. I have stood behind the decks since 1998, the first years in a nightclub, from 2004 at private and corporate celebrations.
In the conversation beforehand, by phone or video call, we set with you when people talk and when they celebrate. I do not want to stand out; my edits let the sections of your event flow into each other. On the day itself I bring the equipment and wireless microphones, set everything up and check the sound.

01At corporate parties of up to about 500 guests, I tailor the music to your company, and in the end the dance floor should still be full. I hear in the room which track works with which generation and adjust the mix continuously instead of working through a list. I have been mastering the balancing act between company culture and party mood since 2004, including for corporations such as Audi, BMW, Microsoft or Amazon. For the transition from dinner to party I keep time free, so that a long speech does not slow your evening down. For up to 150 guests I provide all the equipment myself; for larger events I bring in reliable technical partners.

Your music wish list is the start, then I clarify details myself with the venue and service providers, so that you do not have to chase after them. Tracks and themes that do not suit your occasion I note in the conversation and consistently keep out of the programme.

From the soul of the seventies to today's charts, we agree your music programme beforehand, and I combine the genres into one whole.
About two hours before admission I am ready to go, set up the system calmly and clear everything away myself after the last track. About 2.5 m width and 1.5 m depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up location, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

I plan my sound system with a reserve, so that additional guests go unnoticed. Up to 150 people I manage with my own equipment, and for larger events I bring in technical partners and let you know early.
In the briefing we sort out the meal, speeches and awards, so that I know the start of every item on the programme. My microphone is reserved for the announcements from your schedule. Afterwards I gently lead the music towards the party.
In the first room I keep the music low so that you can talk, in the second I build it up until people dance. We plan the move together, including a buffer for speeches that run over, and I coordinate the schedule with your venue.
Allow three to six months, because December dates are booked quickly. I reply to your message at the latest the next day. I send you the invoice after the event, payable within one week.
Yes, I will put you in touch with saxophone, violin, percussion or vocals from my network, and the musicians play along with my mix. Ideal is a performance at the reception or when the dance floor opens; we discuss the time in the briefing.

If you want live music already at the reception or dinner, I'll arrange a well-rehearsed band of two to four musicians for you. After that I keep playing without a break, and because the planning is in my hands, I remain your single point of contact.

This is how the collaboration works for your company event in Mainz: first you describe the occasion, date and number of participants to me, then in the video call we clarify music, program and room. Shortly before the date, we go over the schedule in the briefing. On the event day I am ready before admission and listen to the empty hall. For small groups my system is enough; for very large guest numbers I bring in technical partners.

Transparency
A programme made up exclusively of party-anthem and Schlager hits doesn't suit me. Guests at any company party like a few sing-along classics, but building the whole evening on them isn't my style. I'm also the wrong contact for techno sets with no connection to your guests, for wish lists that run rigidly from top to bottom, or for multi-stage festivals. Colleagues who love exactly that take such jobs.
My craft is live mixing for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
