Wedding venues in Gelsenkirchen

Weddings in Gelsenkirchen.

First I ask whether you are celebrating in a castle courtyard, by the canal or in a building from the colliery era, because every place needs different speakers. I present five addresses to you: a Renaissance castle in Horst, an open-air stage by the canal, a glass building on a former steelworks site, a winding tower with Hercules and a theatre from the fifties. You decide the venue, then I plan the equipment and schedule.

Between canal and castle courtyard: wedding in Gelsenkirchen

Gelsenkirchen stretches from the Nordsternpark by the water to the lanes of Buer, and every corner has its own sound. Before I decide on speakers and setup, I want to know from you where the celebration takes place.

Whether castle courtyard, glass hall or garden tent: I ask about power, access routes and space before I pack a sound system. You send your music requests and do-not-play songs in advance via the portal, and about 40 minutes before the guests arrive, everything is ready.

Schloss Horst

Horst, Gelsenkirchen

The Renaissance complex was built from 1554 for Rütger von der Horst and was restored between 1994 and 1999. The house includes a restaurant in the cellar and a covered inner courtyard for events. Whether and how private celebrations can be booked there is something the city can tell you; afterwards I clarify the space for speakers and decks with you.

Nordsternpark with amphitheatre

Horst and Heßler, on the Rhine-Herne Canal

The Bundesgartenschau was held in 1997 on the grounds of the Nordstern colliery, which closed in 1993. Today there is an amphitheatre by the canal, used mainly in spring and summer. Outdoors, music depends on the weather, so for your event we plan a roof or a backup room for the sound system from the start.

Wissenschaftspark Gelsenkirchen

Munscheidstraße, Ückendorf

Uwe Kiessler designed the glass building, about 300 metres long, which received the German Architecture Prize in 1995. According to Wikipedia, the glass main concourse hosts exhibitions, trade fairs and receptions. Whether a wedding is possible there is answered by the operating company; I then clarify the sound of glass and concrete in the room.

Nordsternturm

Nordsternpark, Horst

The tower of shaft II grew to 103 metres with a glass cube and the Hercules statue by Markus Lüpertz. The tower's website mentions a panorama terrace; whether it suits celebrations is something you learn from the operator. What interests me then is how the equipment gets up there.

Musiktheater im Revier

Kennedyplatz, Schalke

The building on Kennedyplatz has stood since 15 December 1959, and blue works by Yves Klein hang in the foyer. The building has been a protected monument since 1997. Which rooms the theatre rents out is something the operator can tell you; for speakers and power we then coordinate.

I read up on construction years, rooms and occasions on Wikipedia and on the operators' websites (as of October 2026). Whether your date is free and how many guests fit in the house can only be told by the respective venue.

Humanist ceremony in Gelsenkirchen

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Anyone getting married in Gelsenkirchen often seats Schalke fans, people from Buer and newcomers at one table, and with you I hear all their songs in my head. That is why I start with songs everyone sings along to, from the uncle to the best man, and only later open the mix to your taste.

You enter your edit requests, no-gos and the schedule of the day with me beforehand. We decide together when the buffet comes and how long the dancing lasts. I plan quiet passages for the meal just as much as the moment when the dance floor belongs to you.

How it works

From the inquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Gelsenkirchen.

Send me the date and venue, and I reply the same or the next day. After that come a video call, a check-in with the venue and the setup on the big day.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

You send me the date and venue, and I reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call does not commit you to anything: we get to know each other, collect ideas, and then you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking I unlock the wedding portal, a web app for favourite songs, do-not-play songs, special moments and your schedule. About a week before the celebration we talk by phone and go through the day point by point.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the big day I arrive early enough, set up in about 40 minutes, test the sound in the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and catering staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit, the tracks you chose play. During the reception the music stays quietly in the background, and without a power outlet the battery takes over.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal I hold the music back. Speeches run through the wireless microphone, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I look for the right track.

  6. Opening dance & party

The dance begins with your requested edit. After that I watch who stays on the floor and adjust the set until young and old sing the last track together.

Everything behind

Several generations are probably celebrating with you, so classics stand next to current hits. From the first conversation to the final song, the music stays in one hand.

Which piece plays next is determined by the mood in the room, while the microphone belongs to your speakers and I do not step into the foreground.

LED uplights bathe the room in your colours and, on request, run in time with the music.

One fixed contact person

I reply to messages within 24 hours, and I am reachable right up to the wedding day.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We discuss requests and do-not-play songs right at the start, and I handle the contact with the venue and service providers myself.

Turntable and mixing desk in warm light Open Format

Music genres

I mix pop, disco, soul and current charts the way your guests' mood calls for.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Set-up including sound check takes a good 40 minutes, the system needs only about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last track I take it down myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up area, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

Optional: extras

A photo station, live music, uplights and an audio guest book can be added, and I take care of the coordination.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Gelsenkirchen want to know.

These are the questions couples ask me most often, and if yours is missing, just give me a call.

+49 176 700 580 27
My fiancé is a Schalke fan and wants a fan song at the wedding: can that work without the evening losing its energy?

Yes, I place the song at a moment you choose, for example at the entrance or shortly before midnight. I keep the rest of the evening tuned to the mix of all your guests, so nobody at your wedding feels left out.

We are celebrating in a former industrial site with high walls: how do you keep the echo under control there?

I listen to the empty room and place the speakers so that voices stay clear. With a long reverb I lower the level and let the dance floor be carried by rhythm and selection, not by volume.

The reception in Gelsenkirchen is planned for the park by the canal, but should move indoors if it rains: how flexible is the planning?

We discuss both versions early on, and I watch the weather until the morning of the party. If it comes to that, I move with the system and the booth into the backup room without your guests noticing anything.

Our guests like Schlager just as much as hip-hop: is there a concept for that?

I switch between styles in blocks of a few songs and cut bridges in between. That way every group at your wedding gets its round, and nobody waits long for their song.

How early should we get in touch if our celebration takes place in December?

Give me your date as soon as it is set, and on the same day I will tell you whether I am free. In winter I usually have more room in the calendar for you than in high summer.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

For the reception or ceremony, I put together saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network. We add when they perform to your schedule well before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

At an open-air sparkling wine reception, a saxophone sounds soft and gives the guests' arrival a light touch before the meal begins.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After the meal, percussion brings momentum and lays a beat under the mix, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

A live voice turns the entrance into a moment to remember and later brings guests to the microphone when the room should sing along.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin gives the entrance a festive setting and makes the meal feel more elegant, without disturbing conversations at the table.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Non-stop Ballermann, après-ski and schlager?
I'll gladly slip in the right hit when it suits the mood.
A whole evening in that vein, though, is not my style.

Some DJs have specialised in exactly that.
You'll be in good hands with them.
    That's perfectly legitimate.
    I just work differently.

I specialise in live mixing at demanding events.
For anyone who knows that DJing is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right song at the right moment.
More than playing a ready-made playlist.

If that doesn't suit you, I'm not the right DJ, and that's fine.
If it does, then very gladly.
