Celebrating in Cottbus
An atelier in a museum, a banquet hall or a garden house: describe your room to me in a few sentences, then I choose the sound system and setup. Where can you celebrate in Cottbus? A museum atelier in the former power station, the pergola of a palace nursery in the park, a hall on the Altmarkt, a factory with outdoor grounds or a hotel ballroom by the station all come into question.
You can celebrate your birthday in Cottbus in a museum atelier, on a terrace in the park or in a hall on the Altmarkt. For a small group a slim setup is enough; with more guests I add extra speakers. We'll talk through where you celebrate beforehand.
In a living room or garden house I get by with a few square metres, and without a power socket the music keeps going on battery. We agree beforehand on the space for the speakers and the time from which I may set up; with 40 minutes of setup I won't be in your way for long.
The museum's website explicitly names birthdays as an occasion for celebrations in the museum, held in the atelier. The building was constructed from 1926 to 1928 as a power station; in an industrial building like this I ask you beforehand how many guests are coming and whether there will be dancing.
According to the Stiftung Fürst-Pückler-Museum, the pergola and terrace of the Schlossgärtnerei are intended for outdoor family celebrations from spring to autumn. For an open-air party you tell me beforehand where there is room for my equipment, so I can promise you a setup without cable chaos.
The house on the Altmarkt rents a festival hall for weddings, Jugendweihe ceremonies and galas, as well as a Great Hall with a gallery on the colonnade and stucco. Whether your birthday is possible there, you clarify with the house; in such a hall I discuss with you whether the music should fill the room or stay quietly in the background.
According to the venue, the grounds between the main station and the trade fair centre have a historic outdoor area with parking and offer space for further events besides concerts and company parties. For a proper party there, we clarify how the space is divided between dancing and buffet.
The hotel is directly opposite the main station and lists conference rooms for up to 420 people; a ballroom is also shown on its website. Whether your birthday can take place there, please ask the hotel; I then adapt my equipment to the room.

Soft lounge music accompanies the arrival and gets conversations started. For the birthday guest or a surprise moment, I choose the fitting tracks specially.
I give the programme of the evening the right sound: background music for dinner, the wireless microphone for speeches, tracks for games, surprises and the cake.
As soon as the floor is free, I take over. I watch the mood, change the set as needed and keep young and old moving until the last song fades.

For you I put together a set that exists only once, and I change it over the course of the evening. Songs from several decades bring even the guests onto the floor who only wanted to watch. A garden house, a terrace or the living room is enough for me, as I carry my small setup in myself. During a slideshow or a speech I take the music down immediately.

My equipment is set up on an area of about 2.5 by 1.5 metres long before your guests arrive, I check the sound, and I clear everything away myself after the party. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes about 40 minutes.
You decide which extras to add: lighting, photo station, live music or audio guest book, and I take care of the organisation.

Yes, I plan two blocks for that and link them with tracks that act as a bridge. I collect the requests that matter to you in advance, so there's no fight over the remote control on the night.
It's rarely too late, but Fridays and Saturdays go first. Write to me as soon as a date is under discussion; the next day you'll know whether I'm free on that date.
Yes, you discuss the performance with me beforehand so I can have the right beat ready. If you'd rather hear professionals, I can arrange vocals, saxophone or violin from my network.

First you send me a short message with date and place. In the video call you tell me about your guests and your favourite tracks, and on the night itself I'm open to requests from your crowd.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
