Michael Zimmermann plays for wedding couples in Cottbus

Wedding DJ Cottbus · Events since 2004

Your wedding in Cottbus, from the sparkling-wine reception in the open air to the final chord in the hall.

I am Michael Zimmermann, and I shape the music for your wedding day in Cottbus, from the reception to the last dance. Over 650 weddings have taught me that in a city between the Spreewald and the university, relatives from the village and friends from all over Germany often sit at the same table. beats per micha: Michael Zimmermann, wedding DJ, bookable in Cottbus and the surrounding area.

Wedding venues in Cottbus

Weddings in Cottbus.

Festival hall with stucco, factory hall or marquee by the water: before I fix the equipment and the schedule, I want to know the room, the access and the neighbourhood. Four addresses show how different a wedding in Cottbus can sound: a palace park outside the town gates, a historic hall on the Altmarkt, a factory hall with outdoor grounds and a hotel at the main station; for each I plan the set-up and the programme together with you.

Hall, factory grounds or park terrace: a wedding in Cottbus

In Cottbus you can choose from a hall with a stucco ceiling on the Altmarkt, a former factory with outdoor grounds and the terrace of a palace nursery. Each of these places sounds different, so I first ask about walls, ceiling and floor and only then set the speakers.

In a hall I keep the level low so conversations at the table can go on; outdoors the beat can carry more. If the evening should follow a theme, for example a summer party by the water, I sort the tracks accordingly; songs that are off limits we write down beforehand. The set-up takes 40 minutes, so I am ready before the first guests arrive.

Schloss und Park Branitz

Branitz, Cottbus

Prince Pückler laid out the park from 1846, and according to the foundation, the pergola and the terrace of the palace nursery are available from spring to autumn for family celebrations and open-air ceremonies. On a terrace under trees I clarify in advance how far the music may reach and where guests can still talk to each other.

Stadthaus

Altmarkt 21, Cottbus

By its own account, the house on the Altmarkt rents out a banquet hall for weddings, as well as a Great Hall with a gallery and stucco that once housed the city's first theatre. In a hall with a stucco ceiling I first listen to the acoustics before I talk with you about the volume.

Alte Chemiefabrik

Parzellenstraße 21, Cottbus

Located between the main station and the exhibition grounds, the former factory site offers, according to the venue, historic outdoor grounds and parking and explicitly names weddings as an occasion. At a celebration there, indoors and outdoors run as two worlds side by side, so I agree with you where people dance and where they talk.

Radisson Blu Hotel Cottbus

Vetschauer Straße 12, Cottbus

Directly opposite the main station, the hotel lists conference rooms for up to 420 people; a ballroom is also shown on its website. Whether and in which room a wedding is possible there, you ask the hotel; for guests arriving by train from Berlin or Dresden the location is convenient, and I ask in good time about access and the route for set-up.

Rooms, years of construction and uses come from the venues' own pages and from Wikipedia, as of October 2026. Whether your preferred date is free and whether the venue accepts a wedding can only be told to you by the respective operator.

Open-air ceremony in Cottbus

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Before I prepare anything, I want to know from you: who is coming, which songs connect you, and what must absolutely not be heard on this day? More than 25 years behind the mixing desk and over 650 weddings have shown me that grandparents and university friends rarely get up for the same song.

That is why I build my own edits in which different decades flow into one another. The music runs along without pushing itself to the front, and in the end the evening sounds like you rather than like my playlist.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Cottbus.

Send me two lines about the date and the venue; the very next day the video call is set, and then we clarify wishes and equipment step by step.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

Once the date and place are fixed, you write to me; as a rule I get back to you the same day, at the latest within 24 hours. The video call comes without sales pressure, you get to know me, we exchange ideas, and afterwards your quote is ready.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking you get access to the wedding portal. There you enter favourite songs, no-gos, special moments and the schedule; about a week before the celebration we speak on the phone and go through everything.

  3. Set-up & sound check

While you get ready, I set up in the venue. The set-up takes around 40 minutes, after which I listen to the room, talk through the flow with the photographer and the speaker, and keep the equipment in the background.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit, I choose pieces that carry the mood. At the reception, quiet lounge music plays, and under the open sky a battery powers the equipment if there is no socket nearby.

  5. Dinner & programme items

A calm soundtrack accompanies the meal. Speeches run through a wireless microphone, and games, surprises and the bouquet toss each get their own music.

  6. Opening dance & party

I accompany your opening dance with your requested edit, and after that the floor belongs to the guests. I observe, turn the set around when necessary, and keep all generations moving until the end.

Your service package

Everything behind
the mix

At weddings three generations often dance at the same time, so I mix soul, disco and new chart hits in the same set. For everything to do with the music you have exactly one contact: me.

Hands on the DJ controller in warm backlight

Mixed live, microphone only when needed

Which track comes next I decide by the mood in the room; I leave the microphone to speeches and programme items.

Festival hall in blue and violet uplighting Add-on

LED uplights bathe the walls in your chosen colour, and over the course of the evening the light moves to the beat of the music.

FOTOFun station with ring light and instant printer Add-on

With a photo station the evening stays in the picture: all shots are in a private gallery, and whoever wants can take a print home right away.

Phone showing the guests' photo gallery in front of a dance floor with string lights Recommendation

So that your guests' phone photos come together in one place, I recommend Feierblick, an independent service that you book directly with the provider, without needing your own app.

Equipment that doesn't stand out

The equipment includes two wireless microphones, lighting effects, a Pioneer or Denon desk and speakers from RCF or Electro-Voice.

White retro telephone as an audio guest book on a table with a velvet cloth Add-on

At the retro telephone your guests leave their congratulations, and after the celebration I cut an audio file for you from the recordings.

One fixed contact person

I reply to your enquiry within 24 hours, and we stay in touch until the celebration.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We clarify requested tracks and no-gos at the start, and I take care of the arrangements with the venue and the other service providers.

Music genres

From soul through disco and nineties hits to current charts and electronic dance music: what plays at any moment is decided by your guests and not by a fixed list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

I arrive in good time, set up on about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, check the sound and clear everything away myself after the celebration. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up spot, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

Symbolic wedding ceremony

I also provide music for an open-air ceremony, for example on a terrace in the park: a battery-powered set carries the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit, and you choose the tracks beforehand.

Optional: extras

Photo station, live music, uplights and audio guest book can be booked together; the coordination runs through me.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Cottbus want to know.

Here is what couples usually ask me before booking, and for anything else you can simply call me.

+49 176 700 580 27
We want to celebrate at the new Cottbuser Ostsee, where the wind picks up quickly in the evening: what does that mean for the music?

I set up my speakers out of the wind and point them at the dance floor, not at the water. For cold or rain, I agree on a dry fallback area with you in advance.

In our family we also speak Sorbian or Wendish: can you work in a song in that language?

Yes, send me the track and a recording, and I will check where in the evening it works best. I don't speak the language, so I will tell you honestly if I can't place it on my own, and I will ask you.

Half of our guests are from our university days, the other half are relatives from the Spreewald: how do you get both groups onto the dance floor?

At the start I play songs that university friends and relatives alike hum along to; later come blocks for each group on its own. That way nobody notices that I am mixing the room on purpose.

We expect 120 guests: is your sound system enough for that?

Yes, my standard system covers up to 150 guests, and with 120 people I reach the back table without trouble. Whether I add extra speakers depends on the size of your room.

Can we still change our music requests shortly before the wedding?

Yes, you can edit your track list in the wedding portal right up until shortly before the celebration. About a week beforehand, I go through it with you once more.

We want to keep celebrating after the photo session in the park: how does the equipment work on the meadow?

I clarify with you beforehand where I may set up and which paths I can use. My set-up takes 40 minutes, and I am done before you are back from the photographer.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

For the reception or the ceremony, saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network can be added, matched to my mix. At which point of the day this works best, we discuss well in advance.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone at the open-air sparkling-wine reception gives the afternoon warmth, especially when the sun is lower.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After the meal, percussion drives the beat so the dance floor fills faster and even the reserved ones join in.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

A singer brings a concert feeling to the hall, and later your guests sing along at the microphone.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin accompanies your entrance solemnly and gives the meal in the hall something of a gala evening.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Ballermann, après-ski, schlager hits?
A few songs here and there if it suits the mood – no problem.
But build a whole evening on them? That's not my thing.

There are DJs who can and want to do that.
    There are specialists for it.
    Nothing against them.
But it's not what I do.

I'm a specialist in live mixing at demanding events.
For people who understand that music is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right track at the right moment.
    Not just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you – then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
If it does – I'd love to.
