Corporate parties in Bochum

Corporate parties in Bochum.

Congress hall, museum auditorium or concert foyer: in a city between science, mining history and music the venues differ, so I first ask about the programme and the location. Six addresses, from the RuhrCongress to the Freilichtbühne (open-air stage), show how different your company evening can look: as a congress gala, as a dinner beneath a winding tower, or as a summer party in a beer garden.

Congress hall or museum: corporate event in Bochum

For your party in Bochum, a congress hall, an industrial hall, a museum auditorium, a concert foyer or a stadium room are all possible. How much sound pressure a room needs follows from its area and the number of guests, so those are the first things I ask you.

A museum demands different considerations than a congress centre: there I first clarify routes and set-up areas, here the amount of equipment. We write down the order of your programme items in the briefing; I handle set-up and take-down myself.

RuhrCongress Bochum

Grumme, Bochum

The Große Saal measures 3,000 square metres and the Congress Saal 720, plus meeting rooms and foyers. The Bochumer Veranstaltungs-GmbH operates the venue, which lies next to the Ruhrstadion and the Starlight Express Theater. With dimensions like these, we talk early about sound reinforcement and the venue's technical partners.

Jahrhunderthalle Bochum

Westpark, Stahlhausen

The operator's website lists Halle 1, 3 and 4, the Turbinenhalle, the Dampfgebläsehaus, the Pumpenhaus, foyers and the Nordwiese as spaces. The hall dates from 1902 and was for a long time a blower house of the Bochumer Verein. In a complex with so many areas, I work out with you in which room the music should play.

Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum

Auditorium, Bochum

According to the hire handout, the auditorium, at 250 square metres, holds up to 300 people and is suitable for conferences, corporate parties, receptions and banquets. For catering, the venue works with the museum restaurant KUMPELS. Beneath the 71.4-metre-high winding tower, we discuss how equipment and schedule fit into the museum.

Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr

Innenstadt, Bochum

The Großer Saal offers 962 seats, the Kleiner Saal around 300, and the former St.-Marien-Kirche serves as the foyer. According to Wikipedia, dance evenings are also held there. Whether rooms are available for your event is up to the venue; after that we match equipment and acoustics to the room.

Vonovia Ruhrstadion

Grumme, Bochum

The stadium of VfL Bochum has rooms in the Stadioncenter for hosting around 1250 VIPs. Whether and when these can be booked for your corporate party is something the stadium's management can tell you. In an arena I ask early how the equipment gets into the room and who looks after the sound.

Freilichtbühne Wattenscheid

Stadtgarten, Wattenscheid

The stage in the Stadtgarten has existed since 1936 and has an adjoining beer garden. The room overview of the Bochumer Veranstaltungs-GmbH lists the amphitheatre and beer garden for events. For a summer party under the open sky, we plan weather protection for the equipment from the start.

Rooms, occasions and size details come from Wikipedia and the operators named (as of October 2026). Please discuss available dates directly with the venue concerned.

Who I am

Michael Zimmermann – beats per micha.

When is there a welcome, when are there speeches, when is there dancing? The schedule of your evening in Bochum determines how I build the music. I learned my craft in the nightclub, and today there are over 1450 events behind me, private and corporate. In the initial conversation we agree with you where speeches fit in.

I cut my transitions myself, so no item of the programme breaks off. I bring the system and wireless microphones, and setup and soundcheck are included. If the venue has its own technicians, I coordinate with them directly so that nothing is left open on the day.

Music genres

From seventies soul to current charts, we agree your programme beforehand, and I blend the styles into one whole.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

My setup takes around 40 minutes and needs about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last track I take everything away again. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

Gala & Awards

I take a gala or a company anniversary just as seriously as any other celebration, from the first guest to the farewell.

Optional: extras

If you wish, I include live music, a photo station or uplights in the same coordination.

Good questions

What organisers in Bochum want to know.

These are the questions organisers ask me most often, and if yours is missing, simply pick up the phone.

Our party takes place in Bochum in the foyer of a concert hall: how do you make sure the music does not overpower the room?

For the reception I set the level low and position the speakers so that conversations at the standing tables remain possible. I only raise it for the dancing, and we agree the moment with you in advance.

We have colleagues from research, administration and production: how do you find music that appeals to everyone?

To start, I pick tracks from across all departments and open up the style bit by bit. We ask what your people would like well before the event.

Our evening begins with a talk in the auditorium: how do you coordinate the switch to the party?

While the talk is on, I simply listen. We agree in advance which cue starts the transition, and my first track then opens up the room.

What is the latest we should contact you about our annual party in autumn?

Ideally there are four to eight weeks between enquiry and event, somewhat more for large events or in the peak season. I will let you know by the following day at the latest whether your preferred day is still open.

Our team has almost 200 people: is your sound system enough for a crowd like that?

My standard system handles celebrations of up to 150 guests; larger groups I manage together with technical partners. Tell me the room and the number of guests, and you will get a suitable solution.

We want to celebrate in a museum with exhibits on display: are there special requirements for your equipment?

I agree with the venue where speakers may stand and which routes I may use so that the exhibits stay protected. I clarify that directly with those responsible before the date, and you receive a short confirmation.

What sets me apart

DJ+ – my extra for special evenings.

For vocals, violin, saxophone or percussion at your event, I put together musicians from my network. We decide beforehand when in the evening a performance works best.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Main-time peak · gala champagne reception

DJ + saxophone

At the reception in the foyer, a saxophone sounds relaxed and elegant, especially as the evening moves later into the night.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Summer party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

In a large hall, percussion gives the mix punch without a full band and all its equipment having to turn up.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Live-band feeling · party time & special moments

DJ + vocals

If you want to combine a professional conference with a party mood, bring in a voice that sings hits live and gets the whole team singing along.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Galas & awards · music from the first note

DJ + violin

A violin makes a gala reception feel festive straight away, from the greeting of the very first guests.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

If you want live music already at the reception or dinner, I'll arrange a well-rehearsed band of two to four musicians for you. After that I keep playing without a break, and because the planning is in my hands, I remain your single point of contact.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

A programme made up exclusively of party-anthem and Schlager hits doesn't suit me. Guests at any company party like a few sing-along classics, but building the whole evening on them isn't my style. I'm also the wrong contact for techno sets with no connection to your guests, for wish lists that run rigidly from top to bottom, or for multi-stage festivals. Colleagues who love exactly that take such jobs.

My craft is live mixing for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.

If that doesn't fit your event, I'm not the right person, and that's perfectly fine. If it does fit, we'll discuss the details.
