Wedding venues in Bochum

Weddings in Bochum.

First I want to know whether you are celebrating in a former industrial hall, in a museum or in a concert hall, because each of these spaces carries music differently. I will show you five addresses: a steel hall from 1902, a mining museum with a winding tower, a colliery in Hordel, a concert hall in a former church and an open-air stage with a beer garden. Where you celebrate is your decision; I then plan the set-up and schedule with you.

From Westpark to the winding tower: weddings in Bochum

Bochum did not tear down its industrial buildings but filled them with music, so you celebrate in halls where machines once ran. How much a room echoes depends on its ceiling and walls; once you have chosen your venue, I decide on speakers and placement.

A museum, a concert hall and a banqueting hall each set different conditions for lighting and technology, and I adapt to the room. You enter your theme, requested songs and no-go tracks in the portal beforehand. Forty minutes of setup time is enough for me, after which I listen into the empty room before the guests arrive.

Jahrhunderthalle Bochum

Westpark, Stahlhausen

The Bochumer Verein built the hall in 1902 for an exhibition in Düsseldorf, and later it housed a blower for the blast furnaces. Since its revitalisation in 2003, the Westpark has hosted concerts and productions of the Ruhrtriennale. The operator's website lists spaces such as the Turbinenhalle, Dampfgebläsehaus and Pumpenhaus; the operating company can tell you which one is free on your day.

Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum

Am Bergbaumuseum, Bochum

Since 1973 a winding tower from 1944 has stood here, measuring 71.4 metres and formerly located at the Zeche Germania colliery in Dortmund. The rental handout lists an auditorium for up to 300 people and a forum for up to 80, which is only let after opening hours end. The museum clarifies what is possible on your date, and then we talk about power, access routes and delivery.

Zeche Hannover

LWL-Museum, Hordel

The colliery began producing coal in 1870, Alfred Krupp acquired it in 1872, and operations ended on 31 March 1973. The engine house and Malakoff tower remain standing and today belong to the museum of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe. Whether rooms there are let for private celebrations is something you find out from the museum before we plan the set-up and power.

Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr

Innenstadt, Bochum

Opened on 28 October 2016, the concert hall is the home of the Bochumer Symphoniker. The entrance is formed by the former St. Marien church, whose foyer, according to Wikipedia, also hosts dance evenings. Whether the building lets rooms for celebrations is something the operator can answer; after that we clarify how music and acoustics fit together.

Freilichtbühne Wattenscheid

Stadtgarten, Wattenscheid

The stage in the Stadtgarten has existed since 1936 and today hosts concerts, theatre and an adjoining beer garden. The room overview of the Bochumer Veranstaltungs-GmbH lists the amphitheatre and the beer garden. Under open skies a lot depends on the weather, so for a celebration there we include a fallback plan for the equipment right from the start.

I looked up construction dates, rooms and occasions on Wikipedia and on the websites of the operators mentioned (as of October 2026). Whether your date is free and how many guests fit into the venue can only be answered by the venue itself.

Free ceremony in Bochum

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Bochum has produced miners, students and musical audiences, and at a wedding all three groups often share one table. That shapes how I choose tracks: I begin with songs every generation knows and lead from there into your own taste. Over 650 weddings have shown me when a transition carries and when it jars.

Your requested edit, the no-gos and the running order of the day go into our exchange beforehand, so that nothing has to look improvised in the evening. How long the dancing lasts and when dinner is served, we decide together.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Bochum.

Tell me the date and venue, and you will get an answer within 24 hours. After that come the video call, coordination with the venue and the set-up on the day of the celebration.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

You send me the date and venue, and I reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call does not commit you to anything: we get to know each other, gather ideas, and afterwards you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking I unlock the wedding portal, a web app for favourite songs, no-gos, special moments and the schedule. About a week before the celebration we talk on the phone and go through the day point by point.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the day I arrive early enough, set up in about 40 minutes, check the sound in the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and service staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, the tracks you chose are played. At the reception the music stays quietly in the background, and without a power socket the battery takes over.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal I keep the music subdued. Speeches go through the wireless microphone, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I pick the right track.

  6. Opening dance & party

The dancing starts with your requested edit. After that I watch who stays on the floor and keep adjusting the set until young and old sing the last track together.

Several generations will probably be dancing at your wedding, which is why soul classics sit alongside current chart hits. From the first agreement to the closing song, the music stays with one point of contact.

We discuss requested tracks and no-gos right at the start, and I handle the contact with the venue and service providers myself.

Music genres

I mix disco, soul, pop and chart hits according to the mood of your guests, not according to a rigid plan.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Set-up including sound check takes a good 40 minutes, the system needs only about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last track I take it down myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough for that, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up area, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

Music for the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit runs on battery if needed, so you do not need a power cable for it.

Optional: extras

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Bochum want to know.

These are the questions couples ask me most often, and if yours is missing, just give me a call.

+49 176 700 580 27
We want to celebrate in a museum or listed monument in Bochum: who checks with the venue what equipment is allowed?

I take care of that as soon as you tell me the venue. I ask about power connections, access routes and set-up time, and I get back to you if a requirement changes the plan.

Part of my family loves classical music, my friends listen to hip-hop: how does that become one evening together?

I start with calm pieces and classics from soul, pop and disco that your parents know just as well as your friends. Only later do I mix in tracks that only your crowd wants to hear, and you will notice how the family stays on board.

Our ceremony takes place at Kemnader See, where there is only meadow: how does the music get there?

My battery-powered system covers the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit without a mains connection, so you don't need to have anything laid on. Whether ceremonies are possible on the shore is something you ask the responsible authority.

Our guests are travelling from several countries and hardly share any German: does music even help there?

Guests understand songs with a sing-along chorus even without a shared language, and that is what I rely on first. After that I mix to your taste and make sure every age group gets its moment to get up and dance.

Lots of children are joining our celebration and it ends early: is a DJ worth it for the afternoon?

Yes, I then plan a shorter set with tracks that children enjoy too, and I keep the volume low. We agree with you beforehand when the dancing starts and ends.

We only have a date so far and no venue yet: may we get in touch before the venue is settled?

Yes, send me your date, and by the following day at the latest you will have my answer on whether the date is still free. The venue can follow once you have decided.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

Live music can be added to the reception or ceremony: I put together saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network. We build the performances into your schedule well before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

When evening falls in front of an old industrial building, a saxophone sounds especially warm and gives the reception a soft, relaxed sound.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

Percussion drives the beat after the meal, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

A live voice gives your celebration the feel of a concert, and once the party starts she is happy to pass the microphone to your guests.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin makes the entrance festive and gives the meal an elegant setting that your guests will remember for a long time.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Ballermann, après-ski, schlager hits?
A few songs here and there if it suits the mood – no problem.
But build a whole evening on them? That's not my thing.

There are DJs who can and want to do that.
    There are specialists for it.
    Nothing against them.
But it's not what I do.

I'm a specialist in live mixing at demanding events.
For people who understand that music is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right track at the right moment.
    Not just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you – then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
If it does – I'd love to.
