Corporate parties in Dortmund

Corporate parties in Dortmund.

Exhibition hall, colliery hall or stadium room: in a city between trade fair, industrial heritage and technology park, the venues differ greatly, so I first ask about the programme and the room. Six addresses, from the Westfalenhallen to the Kokerei, show how different your company evening can look: as a trade fair gala, as a party in a factory hall or as an evening in the stadium.

Exhibition Hall or Colliery: Corporate Events in Dortmund

For your event in Dortmund, options include a hall at the Westfalenhallen, a room in the stadium, a tower above the city centre or a former colliery. How much sound pressure the room demands follows from its size and the number of guests; I ask you for both first of all.

I approach a colliery hall differently from a trade fair hall: in one I clarify where guests arrive and dance, in the other how much equipment fits in. Which programme items follow when, we set in the briefing, and I handle the entire set-up and dismantling myself.

Westfalenhallen

Rheinlanddamm, Dortmund

Nine exhibition halls offer around 63,000 square metres, the listed arena holds around 15,400 seats, and the congress centre has around 30 rooms and halls. At dimensions like these we talk early about sound reinforcement and possible technical partners.

Signal Iduna Park

Strobelallee, Dortmund

The stadium with 81,365 seats belongs to Borussia Dortmund, which presents its rooms on its own events page, including Alter Markt, Foyer West and Weiße Wiese. Which room suits your date is for the club to clarify, and we discuss the technology afterwards.

Dortmunder U

Union district, Dortmund

The 70-metre-high former fermentation building of the Union Brewery is now a cultural centre with seven floors. The operator's website lists anniversaries and congresses among the occasions, alongside weddings. In a tower, I ask early on how equipment gets up there.

Zeche Zollern

LWL Museum, north-west Dortmund

The Musterzeche, built between 1898 and 1904, rents out rooms for events and conferences, and its machine hall has been a listed building since 1969. In a listed building we clarify with the venue where speakers may stand and how the equipment gets in.

Kokerei Hansa

Huckarde, Dortmund

The coking plant of 1927/28, shut down since 1992, belongs to the Stiftung Industriedenkmalpflege and is the main site of the 2027 International Garden Exhibition. At a site like this we agree on loudspeakers, access and routes together.

Historisches Hansa-Sudhaus (Hansa brewhouse)

Nordstadt, Dortmund

The brewhouse from 1912 is a listed monument and is listed by the city with room for around 100 people. For a smaller group, such as a department anniversary, it is a venue whose sequence of rooms we discuss in the briefing.

Rooms, occasions and size figures come from Wikipedia and the operators named there (as of October 2026). Please discuss available dates directly with the respective venue.

Who I am

Michael Zimmermann – beats per micha.

Welcome, speeches, dance floor: the running order of your evening in Dortmund determines how I build the music. I learned my craft in a nightclub, and from it more than 1,450 events have grown, private as well as corporate. In the preliminary talk we clarify with you when speeches are scheduled and when the party starts.

I cut my transitions myself, so no item on the programme ends abruptly. I bring the sound system and wireless microphones, and set-up and sound check are included. If the venue has its own technical staff, I coordinate directly with them so that nobody has to search for anything on the day of the event.

One fixed contact person

You will hear from me within 24 hours, and I look after the planning myself, with no waiting queue.

An evening that is planned beforehand

Your music wish list comes first; I coordinate with the venue and the other vendors myself, and tracks that don't fit the occasion I leave out consistently at your request.

Turntable and mixing desk in warm light Open Format

Music genres

We clarify beforehand what you would like to hear, from seventies soul to new charts, and I bring all the styles into one flow.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

For setup I allow about 40 minutes and roughly 2.5 by 1.5 meters of space; after the last track I take everything away myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or elevators) setup takes about 40 minutes.

Gala ballroom with stage, set tables and DJ booth (AI-generated) Premium

Gala & Awards

I take a gala or a company anniversary just as seriously as any other party, from the first guest to the farewell.

Optional: extras

If you would like live music, a photo station or uplights, I include that in the same coordination.

Good questions

What organisers in Dortmund want to know.

These are the questions organisers ask me most often, and if yours is missing, simply pick up the phone.

Our event takes place in Dortmund in a hall with a concrete floor and a high ceiling: what do we need to prepare for?

Concrete floors and high ceilings let the sound ring on, so I move the speakers close to the dance floor and keep the level low so that conversation stays possible. A few photos of the room are enough for a first assessment.

Our field staff and office staff celebrate together: how do you hit both tastes?

To open, I choose songs that go down well with the whole staff, and then widen the selection bit by bit. We collect in advance what your staff wish for, so that I leave nothing to chance.

After the buffet our managing director honours long-serving employees: how does the transition to the music work?

During the award I stay quiet, and at your signal I take the microphone. Once the applause has faded, I bring in a familiar track that brings the guests back into the evening without a break.

Our company anniversary in Dortmund is in May: by when do we need to enquire?

Four to eight weeks beforehand is enough in most cases. If your date falls in the season with the biggest rush or the guest count is high, get in touch earlier. Whether your date is still available, you will know from me by the day after your enquiry at the latest.

We only get the hall three hours before the start: is that enough time for you to set up?

Yes, my set-up including sound check takes around 40 minutes. If you need those hours for decoration and catering, I simply start later, provided you give me the schedule in advance.

How does invoicing work for a company?

Billing is done after the event by invoice, payable within one week. You already know what it contains from the quote, so no questions remain open for your accounts department.

What sets me apart

DJ+ – my extra for special evenings.

If you want singers, a violinist, a saxophonist or percussion at your celebration, I put you in touch with musicians from my network. We clarify in advance when in the evening the performance fits best.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Main-time peak · gala champagne reception

DJ + saxophone

At the reception in the foyer or courtyard, a saxophone sounds relaxed and stylish, especially as the evening moves into the night.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Summer party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

Where a big hall offers lots of space, percussion adds punch to the mix, and you don't need a whole band with equipment for that.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Live-band feeling · party time & special moments

DJ + vocals

A voice that sings hits live gets the staff singing along and combines congress atmosphere with party mood.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Galas & awards · music from the first note

DJ + violin

At the gala, a violin brings dignity to the reception, because its tone sounds festive from the very first greeting.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

If you want live music already at the reception or dinner, I'll arrange a well-rehearsed band of two to four musicians for you. After that I keep playing without a break, and because the planning is in my hands, I remain your single point of contact.

For your company event in Dortmund, you first tell me the occasion, the date and the expected number of guests, followed by a video call about music, schedule and room. In a briefing before the date we work through the individual stages of your evening. On the day of the event my equipment is set up after about 40 minutes, and I listen to the empty room. My standard system carries up to 150 guests; if there are more, I bring in technical partners.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

An evening made up only of Ballermann and schlager hits is not my programme. A few sing-along classics go down well at any company party, but for me they are an extra, nothing more. Nor do I offer techno that leaves the guests out, request lists that are worked through rigidly, or festival formats with several stages. If that's what you're looking for, you're better off with colleagues who specialise in it.

I mix live for guests who expect an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, more than pressing play. That is why I tell you in advance what I don't do, so that you aren't disappointed on the night.

If that doesn't suit your event, I'm not the right DJ, and that's perfectly fine. If it does, we'll sort out everything else together.
