Wedding venues in Dortmund

Weddings in Dortmund.

First I ask whether you are celebrating in a colliery, in a tower above the city centre or in the stadium, because a machine hall, a brewery tower and a box all sound different. I will introduce five addresses to you: a colliery with an Art Nouveau hall, a brewery tower, a coking plant, a brewhouse from 1912 and the largest football stadium in the country. Which venue it will be is up to you, and for each one I plan the set-up and the schedule together with you.

From the Colliery to the Brewery Tower: Weddings in Dortmund

In Dortmund you celebrate in halls that once produced coal, coke or beer: engine hall, brewhouse and brewery tower are now venues with a sound of their own. How much reverb a room has depends on its height and materials, and only once I know your choice do I plan the speakers and the set-up.

A brick hall calls for different lighting than a stadium foyer, and I tune the lighting technology to the room. If you would like a particular theme for the evening, and there are songs that must never be played, you record both in the portal. My setup takes around 40 minutes, after which I listen to the empty room.

Zeche Zollern

LWL Museum, north-west Dortmund

The colliery was built between 1898 and 1904 as a model mine, and in 1969 its Art Nouveau engine hall became the first industrial building in Germany to be listed as a heritage monument. According to Wikipedia, the foyer of the administration building is often used for weddings. Where the reception takes place and where the dancing happens, we clarify with the venue before I decide on my spot.

Dortmunder U

Union district, Dortmund

From 1926/27 the 70-metre tower served as the fermentation and storage cellar of the Union Brewery, and the golden U on the roof has lit up since 1968. Today the Museum Ostwall, a cinema and a restaurant on level 7 share the building. Which rooms can be hired for a celebration is something the operator can tell you, and after that we plan the technology and the routes.

Kokerei Hansa

Huckarde, Dortmund

The coke oven batteries of 1927/28 were fired until 1992, and since 1995 the Stiftung Industriedenkmalpflege has looked after the site. Its buildings include the compressor hall, restored by 2005. Whether your date is possible there is something the venue will tell you; we then go through power, routes and weather protection together.

Historisches Hansa-Sudhaus (Hansa brewhouse)

Nordstadt, Dortmund

The brewhouse from 1912, designed by Emil Moog, has been a listed monument since 1989 and is regarded as the only fully preserved large-scale industrial brewing building in the city from the time before the First World War. The city lists it with room for around 100 people. Sound travels differently between brewing kettles than in a hall, so we decide on speakers and lighting after a walk-through.

Signal Iduna Park

Strobelallee, Dortmund

Germany's largest football stadium, with 81,365 seats, belongs to Borussia Dortmund. On its website the club mentions wedding celebrations and rooms such as Alter Markt, Foyer West or Weiße Wiese. Only the club knows which room is free on your date; once the room and guest count are fixed, we agree the set-up and the schedule.

I looked up rooms, construction dates and occasions on Wikipedia and with the operators named there (as of October 2026). Whether your date is free and how many guests fit in is something only the venue itself can tell you.

Humanist wedding ceremony in Dortmund

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

You are getting married in a city that has turned collieries and breweries into venues for celebration, and I notice that when planning: high halls call for a different sound than a garden room. Over 650 weddings have taught me how differently people celebrate.

If football fans, parents and grandparents are all meant to dance together, I combine tracks from several decades with my own edits. You tell me your wishes and no-gos in advance so that the evening runs smoothly for your guests. How long the celebration lasts and when the food arrives, we discuss beforehand.

How it works

From the enquiry to the final hour of your wedding in Dortmund.

Send me the date and venue and you will hear back within 24 hours. A video call, a check-in with the venue and the set-up before the celebration follow.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

You give me the date and venue, and I get back to you the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call commits you to nothing: we get to know each other, collect ideas, and afterwards you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

As soon as you have booked, you get access to the wedding portal, a web app for timeline, special moments, no-gos and favorite songs. A good week before the date we go through the schedule step by step on the phone.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the wedding day I arrive in good time, set up in around 40 minutes, check the sound in the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and service staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

The entrance, ring exchange and exit get the pieces you chose. At the reception subtle lounge music creates atmosphere, and without a power outlet outdoors, the battery takes over.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During dinner I keep the music quiet. Speeches run through the wireless microphone, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I pick the fitting track each time.

  6. Opening dance & party

The dance starts with your requested edit, and then I steer the set by the dance floor until young and old celebrate the last track together.

Often three generations celebrate with you, so I mix soul classics with current charts. The music stays in one hand from the first conversation to the last song.

At the start we clarify requested songs and no-gos, and I stay in touch with the venue and service providers myself.

Music genres

I mix disco, soul, pop and current chart hits the way your guests take to them on the night, not from a fixed list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Setup and soundcheck take a good 40 minutes, 2.5 by 1.5 meters of space is enough, and at the end I clear everything away myself. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or elevators) setup takes around 40 minutes.

For the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit the music runs on a battery, so no cable to a power socket is needed.

Optional: extras

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Dortmund want to know.

These are the questions couples ask me most often, and if yours is missing, just give me a call.

+49 176 700 580 27
We're celebrating in an industrial hall with high ceilings in Dortmund: won't the sound be echoey there?

I then move the speakers closer to the dance floor and turn the level down so that speech and music stay clear. From photos or during a walkthrough I can usually tell where the echo comes from.

My future husband and his whole family are BVB fans: can a football song be played at the celebration?

That's up to you. If you want one, I'll place it where it lifts the mood, and anyone who doesn't like it will soon hear completely different music again.

We want to say our vows outdoors at Phoenix See: will the music work without a power socket?

Yes, entrance, ring exchange and exit run on my battery-powered system, so no cable to a socket is needed. Whether a ceremony may be held at that spot is something you clarify with the owner.

Some guests listen to Schlager, others to nineties techno: how do you get both onto the dance floor?

To start, I pick tracks for every generation and widen the mix from there in both directions. You collect must-play songs and no-gos in the portal before the celebration.

We are only inviting the closest family, about twenty-five people: is a DJ worth it?

Yes, for a small gathering I set up a reduced rig that does not dominate the room. A table at the edge is all I need as a place for the equipment.

We want to get married in Dortmund in September and only start planning in spring: is that still doable?

It depends on the Saturday, because many dates go early, especially in late summer. Send me your preferred date and you will know the same day whether I am free.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

If you want live music at the reception or ceremony, I can arrange saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin. We discuss the right timing well before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone sounds warm and light in the evening in the courtyard of a colliery, especially as dusk sets in.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After dessert percussion drives the beat, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

Live vocals give your celebration the shine of a concert, and once the party starts the microphone can be passed to the guests.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin accompanies your entrance and turns dinner into a festive opening that stays in your guests' memories for a long time.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

Party classics like Ballermann, après-ski and schlager hits?
I'm happy to play the odd one of those when the mood is right.
Building the whole evening on them, though, isn't for me.

There are other DJs who love doing exactly that, and do it well.
They are the right choice for it.
    I have nothing against them.
    It's just not my thing.

My field is live mixing at demanding events.
For guests who see music as a craft.
    Clean transitions.
The right track for the right moment.
    More than just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you, I'm not the right DJ, and that's perfectly fine.
If it does, I'm looking forward to meeting you.
