Company parties in Jena
Dome hall, concert hall or mountain inn: in a city of research and industry the venues differ greatly, so I ask first about the programme and the room. Five places, from the dome hall via a lounge and the Volkshaus to a mountain inn and a brewery inn, show the range for your company evening: gala, conference with an evening programme, or summer party.
In Jena the choice ranges from the planetarium's dome hall, for up to 300 people at a reception, to the concert hall of the Volkshaus. Only once I know whether you are celebrating under a dome, in a concert hall or in a pub room do I choose the speakers and the layout.
Whether it is a banquet, an award ceremony or a talk, your programme goes into the briefing. I handle setup and teardown without your help, and if your venue has its own equipment, we discuss how to use it beforehand.
The operator rents out the planetarium for conferences, company parties, product presentations and gala dinners. The dome hall has 364 square metres, 261 seats in rows, 200 at a banquet and 300 at a reception, plus a 3D sound system. I clarify with the venue beforehand how my sound reinforcement works alongside this technology.
According to the operator, the lounge measures 160 square metres and holds 100 people at a banquet. A room of this size suits the evening after a conference, because the music can be dosed well.
The Volkshaus has stood on Carl-Zeiß-Platz since 1903, built with money from the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The operator rents rooms for conferences and celebrations. How we work together with the house technology, we discuss early on.
The inn calls itself the oldest mountain inn in Jena and hosts company events and Christmas parties. According to the operator, five rooms from 16 to 110 square metres take up to 250 guests. The smaller the room, the more quietly the system has to work, and I plan for exactly that.
According to the operator, the brewery inn takes reservation enquiries for events and function rooms and serves menus and platters by arrangement. For a team party with its own brewery in the house, I align the setup with the room you book.

Who I am
Your company party in Jena follows a schedule of welcome, speeches, dinner and dancing, and my music follows that. I started in 1998 at a club DJ booth, and over the years staff parties and private celebrations were added. We go through the timing of speeches and awards and when dancing may begin on a video call before I plan anything.
My self-cut edits link the programme items so that nobody notices the change. I bring speakers, wireless microphones and the DJ desk, set them up myself and check the sound in the empty hall.

Which track works for which generation, I hear in the room and adjust the mix continuously instead of working through a list. For the transition from dinner to party I keep time free, so that a long speech does not slow your evening down. For up to 150 guests I provide the complete equipment myself; for larger events I bring in reliable technology partners.

Your music wish list is the start, then I clarify details myself with the venue and service providers, so that you do not have to chase after them. Tracks and themes that do not suit your occasion I note in the conversation and consistently keep out of the programme.

From the soul of the seventies to today's charts, we agree your music programme beforehand, and I combine the genres into one whole.
My setup takes about 40 minutes, but I am ready long before admission, set up the system calmly and clear everything away myself after the last track. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes about 40 minutes.

+49 176 700 580 27In the briefing we set when each speech comes and how long it lasts. I turn the music down before every contribution and bring it back up gently afterwards, so your guests never lose the flow.
Yes, I mix German and English tracks so that guests from different countries find something familiar. On request I make announcements in German or English, which we agree in advance.
My standard system is designed for events of up to 150 guests and measures about 2.5 by 1.5 metres. If it gets bigger, I bring in partners for the sound reinforcement, and we settle that right at the start.
I stay flexible: your host gives me a sign, and I push the transition to the dance floor back accordingly. For such cases I keep buffers in my set so your evening never feels rushed.
Please get in touch about four to eight weeks ahead as a rule; if a large event or the peak season is involved, earlier is better. You will find out by the next day at the latest whether I am free on your date.
The foyer gets quiet background music, and in the hall I build up the atmosphere step by step. We decide when the move happens in the briefing, and I coordinate the times with the venue.

If you want live music already at the reception or dinner, I'll arrange a well-rehearsed band of two to four musicians for you. After that I keep playing without a break, and because the planning is in my hands, I remain your single point of contact.

You get in touch with the occasion, date and number of guests, and I reply within a day. We settle which music, programme and room suit your evening on a video call; shortly before the date I send you the agreed schedule for approval. On the day of the event I am in the hall before admission and check the sound with the chairs empty. My system covers up to about 150 guests, and for larger groups I bring in technology partners.

Transparency
A pure Ballermann and schlager programme? That is not part of my repertoire. A few sing-along titles are welcome at company parties, but building a whole evening on them goes against my style. The same goes for techno with no connection to your audience, for rigid request lists and for festivals with several stages. There are colleagues who do exactly that gladly and well.
My strength is mixing live for guests with a sense for the right moment: precise transitions, the right track at the right time, rather than letting a playlist run. That is why I would rather tell you straight away what I don't offer than have you disappointed on the night.
If that doesn't suit your event, I'm not the right choice, and that's perfectly fine. If it does, we'll discuss everything else.
