Wedding venues in Jena

Weddings in Jena.

Under a dome, in a mountain inn or in a concert hall, all music sounds different, so I ask about the room first before I talk about songs. I introduce five venues to you, from the dome hall with its starry sky and a mountain inn at the Fuchsturm to the brewery inn in the west, and for each one I discuss the technology and schedule with you.

From the dome to the mountain restaurant: a wedding in Jena

Jena is a city where science and craftsmanship sit close together, and your celebration can be just as mixed. Whether under the starry sky of a planetarium, in the mountain restaurant above the Saale valley or in the concert hall of the Volkshaus: every room gets its own concept from me for sound and setup.

We collect your motto and the songs that must not be played under any circumstances together before the celebration. My system is ready after about 40 minutes of setup, and I schedule the soundcheck so early that you notice nothing of it when you arrive.

Dome hall in the Zeiss-Planetarium

Am Planetarium 5, Jena

The operator explicitly rents out the planetarium for wedding celebrations too. The dome hall measures 364 square metres, is 14.5 metres high and holds 200 people at a banquet. Under a dome, sound behaves differently than in a hall with a flat ceiling, and I listen to that in the room beforehand.

Planetarium lounge

Am Planetarium 5, Jena

According to the operator, the lounge measures 160 square metres and has room for 100 people at a banquet. For a celebration on a smaller scale a slim system is enough there, and conversations at the table stay audible.

Fuchsturm Gaststätte

Turmgasse 26, Jena

The inn calls itself the oldest mountain inn in Jena and lists weddings among its occasions. According to the operator, there are five rooms from 16 to 110 square metres for up to 250 guests. Which room suits your guest count is decided during a walk-through, and then I align the sound setup accordingly.

Volkshaus Jena

Carl-Zeiß-Platz 15, Jena

The Volkshaus opened in 1903 with funds from the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The operator rents out rooms for celebrations and mentions the Ernst-Abbe-Saal, a concert hall with a grand piano. In a building with concert acoustics, I plan volume and setup together with you and the venue.

Braugasthof Papiermühle

Erfurter Straße 102, Jena

The brewery inn produces its own house-brewed pilsner and bock beers, and the operator accepts reservation requests for events and dining rooms. For a celebration in pub style, I work out with you where the music belongs, so that guests in the beer garden and at the table enjoy it equally.

Rooms, capacities and occasions come from the operators' websites and from Wikipedia, as of October 2026. Whether your preferred date is free and how many guests actually fit in, you can only find out directly from the venue in question.

Ceremony in Jena

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Before a wedding in Jena, I listen first: how do you speak, what do you laugh about, which songs do you associate with yourselves? I learned my craft from 1998 in a nightclub, later family celebrations and company evenings were added, and today more than 650 weddings stand in my record.

I cut my edits myself so that schlager, soul and charts flow into each other without a break and grandparents and university friends dance together. Part of that is asking you in our first conversation about the people who will sit at your tables, not just about favourite songs. Your day is at the centre.

How it works

From the enquiry to the final hour of your wedding in Jena.

Write to me briefly about what you have planned. You get an answer within 24 hours, then comes a video call, arrangements with the venue and the setup.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

Send me the date and venue as soon as both are fixed. I reply the same day or within 24 hours at the latest, and there is no sales pressure in the video call, only getting to know each other, ideas and then your offer.

  2. Booking & portal access

With your booking you get access to the wedding portal. There, in the web app, you enter special moments, no-go songs, favourite songs and the schedule; about a week before the celebration we go through everything by phone.

  3. Set-up & sound check

My system needs about 40 minutes of setup, but I arrive well before your guests, test the sound and go over the details with the speaker and photographer. I keep the equipment unobtrusive.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, I use music to set the mood. At the reception, subtle lounge music plays in the background, and even without a power socket outdoors everything works on battery.

  5. Dinner & programme items

The meal gets a calm soundtrack. Speeches go through the wireless microphone, and games, surprises and the bouquet toss each get the fitting sound.

  6. Opening dance & party

You open the dance with your chosen edit, then the party begins. I see what the floor demands, adapt the set live and keep all generations moving until the end.

Everything behind
the mix

Three generations often sit at your tables, which is why soul classics stand next to current chart hits in my sets. From the first contact to the last song, the music stays in one pair of hands.

What plays next, I decide by the mood in the room; I stay in the background, and the microphone belongs to speeches and programme items.

LED uplights colour the room in your chosen colour, and over the course of the evening the light moves with the music.

In my cases are two wireless microphones, lighting effects, a Pioneer or Denon console and speakers from RCF or Electro-Voice.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We clarify requested songs and no-go songs in the preliminary conversation, and afterwards I coordinate the details with your venue and the other suppliers.

Music genres

I mix disco classics, nineties hits and current chart songs the way your guests' mood demands, not from a rigid list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Before the guests arrive, I set everything up calmly, check the sound and take it all down again myself after the celebration. About 2.5 m of width and 1.5 m of depth are enough for this, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup location, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

Symbolic wedding ceremony

No power connection is needed for the music during the entrance, the exchange of rings and the exit, as a battery carries the whole ceremony.

Optional: extras

Anyone who wants a photo station, live music, uplights and an audio guest book together gets everything from one source, and I take care of the coordination.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Jena want to know.

These are the questions I hear from couples most often, and if yours isn't there, just get in touch with me directly.

We would like to celebrate under the dome of a planetarium: how do you deal with a room like that?

I check the dimensions and ceiling height in advance, because a high dome reflects sound back and can make speech unclear. In the room I test the sound with quiet music, so you have a clear sound on the evening.

Our wedding party is celebrating in Jena in a house on the hillside with stairs: what do you need from us?

Tell me whether there are steps, a lift or long distances, and I will plan walking routes and time buffers accordingly. A space of roughly two and a half by one and a half metres and a power socket nearby are all I need.

Our guests are half colleagues from the institute, half family from the countryside: how do you get both groups onto the dance floor?

If the older guests stay seated, I slip in schlager and classics; if the younger ones get restless, current hits come on. In my edits disco and pop meet, so you win over both camps. Whatever is off limits for you, I note down in advance.

My brother plays guitar and would like to take part in the reception: does that work alongside a DJ?

Yes, I plan a separate microphone channel for him and we do a short soundcheck beforehand. Afterwards I take over seamlessly, so his performance and my set become one single evening.

Is your standard system enough if we celebrate with over a hundred guests?

Yes, my standard system is designed for celebrations of up to 150 guests, so you do not need to book anything extra. Setting up takes me about 40 minutes, and I bring extension cables and backup equipment myself.

We are getting married in autumn: how far ahead do we need to write to you?

As soon as you know the date, ideally in the autumn of the previous year, because the popular Saturdays go first. Whether my calendar is still open for your date, you will hear by the next day at the latest.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

A saxophone, a singer, a violin or percussion for the reception or ceremony can be arranged through my network. When the performance works best, we work out in good time before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

A saxophone with the aperitif gives the reception a soft, elegant opening, especially as the evening slowly turns to dusk.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After dessert, percussion gives the beat more punch, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

With live vocals your wedding gets the shine of a concert evening, and while celebrating your guests sing along at the microphone.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin accompanies your entrance with a solemn sound and gives the meal the feel of a gala evening.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Non-stop Ballermann, après-ski and schlager?
I'll gladly slip in the right hit when it suits the mood.
A whole evening in that vein, though, is not my style.

Some DJs have specialised in exactly that.
You'll be in good hands with them.
    That's perfectly legitimate.
    I just work differently.

I specialise in live mixing at demanding events.
For anyone who knows that DJing is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right song at the right moment.
More than playing a ready-made playlist.

If that doesn't suit you, I'm not the right DJ, and that's fine.
If it does, then very gladly.
