Michael Zimmermann at the DJ booth at a wedding in Herne

Wedding DJ Herne · Events since 2004

Your wedding between the canal bank, the Stadtgarten and the mining heritage.

My name is Michael Zimmermann, and I take care of the music for your wedding in Herne. Over 650 weddings have taught me when a hall wants calm and when it wants to dance. I bring the equipment myself, and you shape the day. beats per micha: Michael Zimmermann, wedding DJ, available to book in Herne and the surrounding area.

Wedding venues in Herne

Weddings in Herne.

Whether it is a hall in the park, a building from the mining era or a terrace by the canal: I ask first about venue and space, because speakers, power and layout depend on it. Four venues show how different your wedding in Herne can look: an event centre in the Revierpark, a factory hall from 1908, a moated castle and a people's theatre in the Stadtgarten. Once you have decided, I plan the equipment and schedule.

Canal, Kirmes and mining era: weddings in Herne

In Herne, wedding venues range from the park in Sodingen via Wanne on the canal to the castle quarter of Baukau, and the sound changes with the place, for your celebration too. So above all I ask where you are celebrating and how big the group will be.

Before I pack the system, I clarify access, power and floor space with you or the venue. You enter your requests and taboo songs in the portal beforehand, and everything is set up about 40 minutes before the guests arrive.

Veranstaltungszentrum Gysenberg

Am Revierpark 40, Sodingen

The venue's website lists weddings, birthdays and company celebrations as occasions. The Große Saal holds 50 to 300 participants and can be divided, the Pfiffikus-Haus holds 70 guests, and outdoor areas in the park are suitable for photos or a sparkling wine reception. You settle the date and room with the venue, and the placement of the speakers afterwards with me.

Flottmann-Hallen

Straße des Bohrhammers 5, Herne

The halls were built in 1908 for the Flottmann-Werke and opened as a cultural centre in October 1986, and a sculpture park has been part of it since 2010. Whether rooms are let for private celebrations is something the City of Herne can tell you. How a former factory building sounds, we discuss as soon as the room is settled.

Schloss Strünkede

Baukau, Herne

The moated castle was first mentioned in 1243, its oldest part is a tower from around 1500, and a gate bears the year 1664. It has belonged to the City of Herne since 1948, and the Emschertal-Museum is housed there. Which rooms are open for celebrations, you can find out from the city; for power and space in the old walls, we agree on that afterwards.

Mondpalast

Wilhelmstraße 26, Wanne

The people's theatre moved into the former Städtischer Saalbau in the Stadtgarten on 28 January 2004 and offers 500 seats. Whether the hall becomes available for a celebration outside performances is something only the venue can answer. For your evening, I then ask about the stage, power and the route for the equipment.

Dates and room details come from Wikipedia and the operators' websites, as of October 2026. Whether your preferred date is free and how many guests fit in is something the venue itself can answer.

Humanist ceremony in Herne

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Herne grew together from two towns, and at your wedding guests from Wanne, Eickel and the centre often sit at one table. That shapes my selection: I start with songs both sides of the family know, and only open up the mix to your own taste as the evening goes on.

You enter your favourite songs, taboos and the daily schedule with me in advance. When to eat, who speaks and where to dance, you decide together with me. I plan room for quiet phases just as much as for the moment when the floor belongs to you.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Herne.

After your message with date and venue, I get back to you by the next day at the latest. A video call follows, then coordination with the venue, and on the day itself the set-up.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

You send me the date and venue, and I reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call commits you to nothing: we get to know each other, collect ideas, and afterwards you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

With the booking I unlock the wedding portal, a web app for favourite songs, no-gos, special moments and your schedule. About a week before the celebration, we go through the day point by point on the phone.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the day I arrive in good time, set up in about 40 minutes, check the sound in the empty room and coordinate with the speaker, photographer and catering staff.

  4. Ceremony & reception

For the entrance, ring exchange and exit, the tracks you have chosen are played. During the reception the music stays quietly in the background, and where there is no socket, the battery powers the system.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal I keep the music subdued. Speeches go through the wireless microphone, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I pick the right track.

  6. Opening dance & party

The dancing starts with your requested edit. After that I watch who stays on the floor and adjust the set until young and old sing the last track together.

Everything behind
the mix

Several generations are probably celebrating with you, so classics sit alongside current hits. From the first agreement to the last song, the music stays in one pair of hands.

Which track comes next is decided by the mood in the hall; the microphone belongs to your speakers, and I hold back myself.

LED uplights colour the hall in your colours and, if you like, can change in time with the music.

Two wireless microphones, lighting effects, Pioneer or Denon equipment at the booth and speakers from RCF or Electro-Voice are part of my set-up.

I reply to messages within 24 hours and am available to you right up to the wedding day.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We discuss requested tracks and no-gos right at the start, and I handle contact with the venue and service providers myself.

Turntable and mixing desk in warm light Open Format

Music genres

I blend pop, disco, soul and current chart hits in the way the guests in your hall are responding to at that moment.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

Set-up including the soundcheck takes a good 40 minutes, the system needs only about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last song I take it down myself. About 2.5 m in width and 1.5 m in depth are enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the set-up spot, no stairs or lifts) the set-up takes around 40 minutes.

If you like, I accompany the entrance, ring exchange and exit with battery-powered equipment, so you do not need a socket nearby.

Optional: extras

A photo station, live music, uplights and an audio guest book can be added, and I take care of the coordination.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Herne want to know.

These are the questions I hear from couples most often, and if yours isn't there, just get in touch with me directly.

Our wedding in Herne falls on a weekend of the Cranger Kirmes: when should we get in touch with you?

As soon as the date is set, a short message to me is enough, and I will get back to you with a yes or no. Summer weekends are in demand, so every extra week helps; the Kirmes does not change my planning.

Before the meal we want to take a walk along the canal with all our guests: what do you do musically during that time?

In the meantime I play nothing that disturbs conversation, or pause completely if you prefer. For the return I bring in a track you choose beforehand, so everyone arrives back in the hall together.

Wanne-Eickel and Herne-Mitte meet at our wedding, some like Schlager, others rock: how do you keep both sides happy?

I switch style after a few tracks without announcing the change, so each side gets its turn. If you tell me beforehand which songs your families sing along to, I build the running order around them.

My parents worked at the colliery and would like a Steigerlied: can that be done without kitsch?

Yes, I place the song at a moment you choose, for example during the speeches or the toast. After that I let the regular mix carry on, so the moment stands out for you and the evening does not tip into nostalgia.

Our hall is in an old building with few sockets: how much power do you need?

My system manages with one normal socket near the hall, and I plan for longer cable runs myself. Send me a floor plan or a photo, and I will tell you in advance where the booth and speakers are best placed.

Even more options

DJ+ – live musicians right inside my mix.

For the reception or ceremony I put together saxophone, vocals, percussion or violin from my network. When they play, we enter into your schedule well before the celebration.

Saxophonist in warm backlight 01

Sparkling wine reception · First dance

DJ + saxophone

At an outdoor sparkling wine reception a saxophone sounds soft and gives the guests' arrival a light touch before the meal begins.

Percussionist on congas in backlight 02

Party peak · energy on the dance floor

DJ + percussion

After the meal, percussion brings energy and lays the beat under the mix, and the dance floor fills almost by itself.

Singer with a microphone in backlight 03

Entrance · special moments

DJ + vocals

A live voice turns the entrance into a moment you keep, and later brings the guests to the microphone when the hall wants to sing along.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin gives the entrance a festive frame and makes the meal feel more elegant, without disturbing conversation at the table.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Ballermann, après-ski, schlager hits?
A few songs here and there if it suits the mood – no problem.
But build a whole evening on them? That's not my thing.

There are DJs who can and want to do that.
    There are specialists for it.
    Nothing against them.
But it's not what I do.

I'm a specialist in live mixing at demanding events.
For people who understand that music is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right track at the right moment.
    Not just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you – then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
If it does – I'd love to.
