Wedding venues in Wuppertal

Weddings in Wuppertal.

Whether you celebrate in a moated castle, in a converted hall or in a concert hall: walls, ceiling and layout change the sound, which is why I ask about the venue first. I will introduce five addresses to you, from the moated castle in Vohwinkel to the concert hall on the Johannisberg, plus a brewery pub in a former public bath, an event venue in a former shipyard and a restaurant in the zoo. How the equipment fits into each venue, I work out with you.

Buildings with history: a wedding in Wuppertal

In Wuppertal your venues lie on hillsides, in valleys and in buildings that used to be something quite different: a bath, a shipyard, a moated castle. How a room sounds depends on walls, ceiling and guest count, which is why I choose speakers and placement only once I know your venue.

Under a high hall ceiling I set up the system differently than in a vault or on a terrace on a hillside, and I adjust the lighting to the same room. What belongs to your day, from the theme to the no-go list, you collect in the portal. Setup takes me a good 40 minutes; afterwards I play some test music and listen to how the room responds.

Schloss Lüntenbeck

Vohwinkel, Wuppertal

The former moated castle was first mentioned in 1217; its main building is now rented out for private and business events, and there has been a restaurant there since 2009. Which rooms are available for the celebration and dancing, you will find out from the venue, and then I plan speakers and floor space.

Wuppertaler Brauhaus

Kleine Flurstraße, Barmen

The brewery is housed in the former Barmen public bath from 1882, and the old men's pool serves as the bar. The Brausaal holds 180 people and can be used separately, the Brauzimmer 45; the venue explicitly names wedding celebrations as an occasion. How many guests you can invite, you settle with the operator, and I choose the sound system accordingly.

Bootshaus Wuppertal

Wuppertal

The building was once a shipyard for a hovercraft and, according to the operator, hosts private celebrations such as weddings and birthdays. Its own catering team is part of the offer. The venue will tell you room sizes and guest numbers; I then plan space for the sound system and the dance floor.

Historische Stadthalle

Johannisberg, Elberfeld

The neo-Renaissance concert hall opened in July 1900. The Great Hall measures around 1,000 square metres, and there are five smaller halls besides. Whether and in what setting celebrations can be held there, you ask the venue; with rooms this high, I clarify early what the equipment needs.

Okavango im Zoo

Zoo Wuppertal

The restaurant stands between the elephant enclosure and the great ape house in the zoo, which has lain on the slope of the Boltenberg since 1881. According to the city, it can also be rented for private celebrations outside opening hours. How many guests fit inside, the operator will tell you; I align the equipment accordingly.

Rooms and capacities come from the operators' websites, from Wikipedia and from a city page about the zoo (as of October 2026). Which dates are free and how many guests fit, the venue itself will tell you.

Civil ceremony in Wuppertal

I provide the music for your symbolic wedding ceremony, from the entrance through the ring exchange to the exit, with a sound system that runs without a power outlet, indoors or outdoors, and I bring a wireless microphone for your celebrant.

Who I am

Servus, that's me, Micha.

Anyone getting married in Wuppertal often invites guests from several valleys, districts and generations: some come from Vohwinkel, others from the Hardt or from further away. So that everyone finds something familiar, I put together my own edits from songs across several decades.

You enter your favourite song, your taboos and special moments in advance; on the evening nobody notices how thoroughly it was planned. We also discuss menu, speeches and the course of the day beforehand, and if you like we go through the day together once, so that nobody has to sort out equipment or responsibilities on the evening.

How it works

From the enquiry to the last hour of your wedding in Wuppertal.

Send me the date and venue, and you'll have my answer within a day. Then we meet in a video call, I coordinate with the venue and set up myself on the day of the celebration.

Request a date
  1. Enquiry & first chat

Write to me with the date and venue, and you'll get a reply the same day, within 24 hours at the latest. The video call is non-binding: we get to know each other, you tell me about your day, and afterwards you receive your quote.

  2. Booking & portal access

After booking, you get access to the wedding portal, a web app for requested songs, no-gos, special moments and schedule. About seven days before the celebration we talk on the phone and go through the day calmly.

  3. Set-up & sound check

On the wedding day I arrive at the venue in good time, set up in a good 40 minutes, check the empty room and coordinate with the officiant, the photographer and the service staff. With stairs or narrow access, we plan the route for the equipment with the venue beforehand.

  4. Ceremony & reception

Entrance, ring exchange and exit are accompanied by the pieces you have chosen. At the reception, quiet music plays in the background, letting conversations develop.

  5. Dinner & programme items

During the meal I keep the music low; a wireless microphone is ready for speeches, and for games, surprises and the bouquet toss I choose a separate song each time.

  6. Opening dance & party

Your requested edit starts the dancing. After that I watch the dance floor and change the set piece by piece, until young and old celebrate the last song together.

the mix

Because several generations celebrate with you, soul classics stand next to current chart hits. Planning, setup and music are in one person's hands from the first conversation to the last dance.

Which song comes next is decided by the mood in the hall; the microphone I leave to your speakers.

LED uplights colour the hall in your chosen colour and, if you wish, pulse in time with the music.

One fixed contact person

I answer your enquiry within 24 hours, and I stay available to you until the wedding.

An evening that is planned beforehand

We settle wishes and no-gos at the start, and I take care of coordination with the venue and the other suppliers.

Turntable and mixing desk in warm light Open Format

Music genres

I blend soul, disco, pop and chart hits in the mix your guests accept; I don't work through a fixed track list.

Set-up and tear-down without any effort from you

For setup and soundcheck I allow a good 40 minutes, the system needs about 2.5 by 1.5 metres, and after the last song I take everything down myself. For that, a width of about 2.5 m and a depth of 1.5 m is enough, and under normal conditions (car close to the setup spot, no stairs or lifts) setup takes around 40 minutes.

Outdoor symbolic wedding ceremony at sunset Outdoor

Symbolic wedding ceremony

Even an outdoor spot without mains power is no obstacle: the music for the entrance, the ring exchange and the exit then runs on battery.

Optional: extras

A photo station, live music, uplights and an audio guest book can be added, and I take care of the coordination.

Frequently asked questions

What couples in Wuppertal want to know.

These are the questions I hear from couples most often, and if yours isn't there, just get in touch with me directly.

We are marrying in a building with thick walls and vaults in Wuppertal: will the sound turn muffled?

Whether a vault swallows or reflects sound, I find out on site. In the empty hall I test where the speakers sound best and set the volume so that your speeches are easy to understand.

Our guests come from the valley, from the hills and from farther away: how do you find music that works for everyone?

At the start I choose pieces that almost every guest knows; only once the dance floor is full do my tracks become bolder. What belongs to you and what must never be played, you enter in the portal.

We are wondering whether a playlist from a phone is enough: why do we need a DJ?

A playlist simply runs through, whereas I listen. I change my set as soon as the floor empties and shape transitions so that no dance breaks off. I coordinate speeches and games with the venue so that you do not have to worry about anything.

Our witnesses are planning games and surprises: how does that fit into the evening?

Send me the ideas in advance, and I'll set the song and the timing for each item. On the night I give you the signal to start and then fade back into the music without a break.

Our hall has only a small dance floor: won't it get too cramped?

The setup needs only 2.5 metres of width and 1.5 metres of depth, and I aim the speakers so that guests at the edge of the hall can hear everything. If space is tight, I switch more often between calm and driving tracks so that the floor clears now and then.

We are getting married in early summer: when should we get in touch?

Saturdays between May and July are in the highest demand, so I recommend that you get in touch early. A day later you will know whether I am free for you.

Even more options

After dessert, percussion sets the pulse, and the dance floor fills on its own, before anyone has to ask.

DJ + vocals

Live vocals give your celebration a concert sparkle, and later you are welcome to hand the microphone to your guests.

Violinist in warm backlight 04

Ceremony · bride's entrance

DJ + violin

A violin leads you in for the entrance and turns the dinner into a festive opening that your guests will not forget.

Band with a singer and musicians as silhouettes in the stage lighting 05

An evening without a break.

First the band, then the beats

Live music for the reception or dinner, and then a full DJ night anyway? Through my network I can arrange a well-rehearsed band, from a duo to a quartet, with vocals, guitar, piano, percussion or saxophone. Because everything is planned by one person, there is one point of contact, one sound concept and no gap between band and DJ.

Who i'm not the right DJ for

    Ballermann, après-ski, schlager hits?
A few songs here and there if it suits the mood – no problem.
But build a whole evening on them? That's not my thing.

There are DJs who can and want to do that.
    There are specialists for it.
    Nothing against them.
But it's not what I do.

I'm a specialist in live mixing at demanding events.
For people who understand that music is a craft.
    Precise transitions.
The right track at the right moment.
    Not just pressing play.

If that doesn't suit you – then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
If it does – I'd love to.
