Celebrations in Unterfranken
Vaulted wine parlour, open terrace or large hall: every room carries music differently, and the experience with rooms like these goes into every suggestion I make you. Seven venues come into question for your birthday, from the roof of the Kaufhaus via the fireplace room on the Main and the wine parlours to the farm with barn, the castle hotel in the vineyards and the inn parlour.
If you are planning your birthday in Würzburg, you often decide between a wine tavern and a rooftop location with a wide view, and the two call for a different sound system. The rooms hold 40 guests at times, 200 at others, and I adjust my equipment to your number of guests and to the room.
At home or in the garden, a small set is enough, running on battery if need be, and the equipment is entirely my job. If you start in the late afternoon with a glass of Franconian wine, I begin with quiet tracks for chatting before the tempo picks up. I sort out power, set-up time and access with you beforehand, so that on the big day all you have to do is raise a glass.
Cloud 7 Würzburg lists birthdays among its occasions, as well as weddings, company parties, Christmas parties and anniversaries. According to the operator, the rooftop venue on the seventh floor of the Wöhrl department store offers flexible seating for up to 200 people. With such a flexible room layout, I only fix my set-up once I know your seating plan.
The Beef 800° am Main lists birthdays as an occasion, plus weddings, company parties and Christmas parties. According to the operator, the Kaminzimmer has room for up to 60 guests and the terrace for up to 160 people. Which equipment belongs to your area, I only decide once you have settled on the room or the terrace.
The Bürgerspital Weinstuben list birthday as an occasion, alongside family celebration, wedding, Christmas party and team-building event. About individual rooms I can't promise you anything here, so I clarify your wishes directly with the house. Only afterwards do I align my set-up with the space you are promised.
The Alte Mainmühle at the Alte Mainbrücke lists the milestone birthday among its occasions, as well as weddings, anniversaries and Christmas parties. According to the operator, the fireside room holds up to 50 people, the Mühlenstube up to 55. For groups of this size I deliberately set up compactly so that your guests keep room to dance.
The Nikolaushof lists birthdays as an occasion, alongside weddings, company parties and anniversaries. According to the operator, the house is divided into barn, pavilion, inner courtyard, restaurant and lakeside garden. With several areas I think with you about where the music should play and where your guests can chat in peace.
The Schlosshotel Steinburg in the vineyards lists birthdays among its occasions, plus weddings, corporate parties and anniversaries. According to the operator, the Plenum is suitable for celebrations of up to 160 people, and the terrace offers a view over the city. I align sound and set-up to this banquet hall and your number of guests.
The Backöfele names the birthday party as an occasion, as well as company party, family party, Christmas party and New Year’s Eve. According to the operator, the Jagdzimmer is suitable for large groups of up to 40 people. For a room of this size I bring a handy system that fills the room without drowning out your conversations.

Who I am
Würzburg celebrates the Kiliani-Volksfest in July, and I want to bring a bit of that atmosphere to your party. My journey began in a club in 1998, and since then I've been out at private and corporate celebrations, at over 1450 events. I listen to what your evening needs in advance and then build my set.
At your party the DJ isn't the centre of attention, I stay in the background and the music leads. My own edits blend songs from very different years together so your guests join in the celebration. You look after your guests, I look after the sound.

After your message with date and place I reply within 24 hours, followed by a video call, set-up and your party, and I answer every follow-up question myself, not through third parties. See the whole process →

Anyone who books with me can message me on WhatsApp at any time afterwards, because my private mobile number comes with it. Seven days before the celebration, we calmly go through song requests, no-gos and the schedule.
By the time the guests arrive, everything has long been in place: I set up one to two hours beforehand, do the soundcheck and settle open points with you or the venue. The equipment then works invisibly in the background.
With subtle lounge music in the background, the guests arrive and quickly start chatting. For special moments, such as for the birthday guest of honour, I choose the sound that fits.
Dinner gets its soundtrack of atmospheric music. When someone speaks, a game is on, a surprise is waiting or the cake is cut, I handle the microphone and the music at just the right moment.
From the first round on the dance floor, I steer the mood: the set grows live with the guests, and all generations dance together right up to the very last song.

Whether you sit at the table with six friends or invite the whole extended family: a set of its own is created for your day, which I change as soon as the mood shifts. Songs from many decades and an eye for the right moment pull even the hesitant onto the dance floor. When a guest says a few words or a film of memory photos is playing, I gently move the music into the background. For parties in the garden or on the terrace, my compact setup, which I bring along, is also enough.

Long before the first guest, about two hours earlier, I am in the room with the equipment, test the sound there and carry everything out again myself after the party.
Uplights, photo station, live music or audio guest book are only there if you want them, and I take care of the arrangements for that.

If the venue has a good sound system, I plug into it, otherwise my own comes along. With few guests I deliberately set up in a reduced way, so your room feels cosy and doesn't turn into a technology park.
Yes, a wireless microphone is waiting for you at the decks, and you take it in your hand as soon as you feel like saying a few words. You may also give it to friends who give a toast or lead a game. How often I pick up the microphone myself, I discuss with you beforehand.
Your guests can request tracks from me all evening, verbally at the decks, without a form. If a piece is spoiling the mood at the moment, I make a note of it and bring it later at the right moment. For me, your list is a map, but not a timetable that I follow stubbornly.
For milestone birthdays in a fixed venue you should write to me a few months ahead, because popular Saturdays are gone early. For small groups I often find a place in my calendar at short notice too, sometimes a few weeks are enough. If your date is already around the corner, call me, and I'll tell you during the call whether I'm free that day.
For the live sound, you bring in a wind player with a saxophone through me, who joins in with my mix; I put you in touch with him. I can arrange vocals, strings or drums just as well, depending on who is celebrating with you. Where in the programme the performance works best, I think about in my first chat with you.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
