I'm Michael Zimmermann. A DJ since 1998, on the road as a party DJ since 2004 - over 1450 events, from an 18th birthday in the garden to a 60th with 200 guests in the hall. At birthday parties, three generations are often on the dance floor at the same time, and that's exactly what I tune the set to. For over 25 years I've played on practically every kind of venue - from the living room to the castle, from garden parties to the city loft.
Who I am
A northerner by birth, at home in Bavaria for over two decades. In 1998 I stood behind the decks in clubs for the first time and eventually outgrew them, and so did the people I had been playing for. They started celebrating their own parties, and I got to be part of them. Since 2004 over 1450 events have added up, from an 18th birthday in the garden to an 80th with three generations under one roof.

I'm happy to take on your requests, and my own edits bring today's charts and classics from the past together so that the dance floor stays full, whether it's a cousin or grandpa. How it works
Hiring a DJ for your party for the first time? You don't need any prior knowledge for that. We have a short chat about your guests and your music, and I plan the rest. On the evening I stay in the background and play whatever gets your crowd going.
Once you have booked, you get my direct mobile number for WhatsApp: song requests, no-gos, schedule, special moments - all straight to me. No paper chaos, no forgotten request.

As soon as you've booked, you get my private mobile number for WhatsApp. About seven days before the party we go through all the details together once more - timing, song requests, surprise moments - so that nothing is left open on the day itself.
I'm on site at least 1-2 hours before the start. Equipment set-up, sound check, coordination with you or the venue. When the guests arrive, everything runs invisibly.
Guests arrive, subtle lounge music plays in the background so people can still talk. As soon as the birthday guest of honour arrives or a special moment is coming up, I adapt the music live. Battery operation for outdoors or venues without a power supply.
Atmospheric background music during the meal. Speeches and announcements with a microphone. Games, surprises, cake cutting - every moment gets its musical frame.
As soon as the dance floor is opened, I take over with my own edit. After that I read the dance floor, adapt the set live and bring all generations together - until the last hour.

From a party in the living room to one in a rented room: your birthday is allowed to sound like you and not like a standard evening. Sound system and planning are with me, and which music plays, I decide over the course of the evening based on your guests.

A birthday often brings together family, friends and colleagues, so I shape the music so that every generation can dance along. When the birthday guest of honour arrives or a special moment is coming up, I tune the sound live to it, and when a slideshow is running or guests give speeches, the music steps quietly back. Your service package
For your birthday party in Munich I pack the sound system, lighting, microphones and controller myself and adapt the scope to the room and the number of guests. How much I guide you through the evening, we agree in our initial chat.
My set isn't fixed in advance. I mix live according to what happens on the dance floor and stay in the background while doing so. The microphone is only used when speeches or programme items are coming up, and if you'd rather make the announcements yourself, you can take it over at any time.

LED uplights colour the room in your favourite colour, and over the course of the evening the shade changes to match the music.

The photo station runs by itself and provides props and a digital gallery, and instant prints are available on request. I take care of set-up and tear-down including the equipment myself, so no additional provider needs to be booked for it.

Recommendation
Your guests' phone photos end up in a shared gallery at Feierblick via QR code, no app needed. I'm happy to recommend the service, but you have to book it yourself rather than through me.

My equipment includes a laptop and controller from Denon or Pioneer, the sound comes from speakers by RCF, Electro-Voice or dB Technologies, plus two wireless microphones and lighting, and a double backup always comes along.

Your guests pick up the receiver of a retro telephone, press the # key and speak their congratulations onto tape, nothing gets edited. Afterwards you receive the collected messages as a file.

About a week before your party, we go over the schedule, requested songs, no-gos and special moments by phone. I coordinate with the location and other service providers myself.
Open Format
What gets played is what suits your guests, from charts via house and hip-hop to Schlager and classics, and R&B and electro swing are part of it too. Which songs you'd like and what absolutely must not be played, we clarify beforehand. On the night, every guest can pass their requests directly to me, but there are no request slips.
My system is set up and the sound check is done before the party starts, because I arrive at least two hours beforehand. I take care of the tear-down as well.
You can add LED uplights in your favourite colour, a photo station, an audio guestbook or live musicians from my network, and the coordination runs entirely through me.

More spontaneous, smaller celebrations or weekday parties can often still be planned well with 4 to 8 weeks' notice - if in doubt, just enquire.
That depends heavily on playing time, number of guests, venue and any extras you want such as uplights or a photo booth - flat figures without this information would be unprofessional. After a short conversation you get a concrete, binding quote within 24 hours.
An open-format DJ doesn't play just one genre but switches live between charts, house, hip-hop, 90s/2000s, Schlager and classics - tailored to the guests who are actually there. At birthday parties, family often meets friends and colleagues, and that's exactly what open format is made for.
Yes, completely. Sound system to suit the size of the room, DJ equipment (Denon Prime 4+), microphone for announcements and speeches, basic lighting. On request also uplights for atmosphere in the room or the FOTOFun+ station as an add-on. A backup system is always with me, so that a technical defect never leaves the dance floor in silence.
In 25 years that has happened exactly once. Through my network of fellow DJs - I know many of them from my own workshops for the DJ Allianz e.V. - I arrange a replacement of equal quality, on the same terms as originally agreed. Only in the absolute exceptional case (death, serious accident) do you get payments already made refunded in full.
Yes, for birthday parties that's actually the most common case. Compact set-up for living room, terrace or garden, battery-powered if needed, without the neighbours or the venue having to suffer. Beforehand I clarify the power supply, set-up time and any noise-protection requirements, so that everything runs smoothly on the day itself.
Within Bavaria basically anywhere: Munich, Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Tegernsee, Chiemsee, Starnberger See, Allgäu, Garmisch, Berchtesgaden. Exceptional journeys (plane, ferry, mountain railway) are agreed separately. Travel within 100 km of Aichach is included in the standard package; beyond that, a fair per-kilometre charge applies.
Absolutely. Beforehand we discuss a request list and any no-gos, and on the evening itself I also take spontaneous requests from the guests and read what the dance floor needs right now. The playlist is a framework, not a rigid programme.
No deposit months in advance needed - you decide: transfer the full amount in advance, half beforehand with the rest on the day of the event, or everything at once only on the evening, just before I start mixing. I give you this freedom because I know what my set delivers.
No, I don't end the party in the middle of the best moment. Within your booked time slot there is no rigid final minute - I read the dance floor, not the clock. If you want to extend spontaneously, we sort that out right on site.
A normal power socket near the DJ is enough for the equipment - without a connection, my battery set-up runs. For rented venues such as club houses or event rooms, it's worth checking for fixed decibel limits or limiters that some landlords require. It's best to clarify this early with your venue, so there's no nasty surprise on the evening.

Service area
On my map, Munich is in the middle, and all the other places line up around it. I answer your enquiry within 24 hours, whether you're celebrating in the city or around it.
At home, in the garden or on the terrace my compact set-up is enough, and without a power connection it runs on battery. If your location has a usable sound system of its own, I use it, and if it isn't up to it, I set up my own equipment and work independently right away. To be honest
A pure Schlager or Ballermann evening, hour after hour?
A few crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it - sure, that's part of a good birthday party for me.
But building a whole evening exclusively on that is not my thing.
Just as little am I the right person for non-stop techno sets without contact with the audience, for rigid request lists that are played through stubbornly from top to bottom, or for huge festival formats with several stages at the same time. There are other DJs for that who can do exactly that and love it - nothing against them, it's just not my speciality.
If that doesn't suit your party - then I'm not the right person. And that's okay.
