I'm Michael Zimmermann, a party DJ out of passion: I'll accompany your birthday in Berchtesgaden with a mix that follows your group and not a template. I started mixing more than 25 years ago, hosts have been booking me since 2004, and after more than 1450 events I can tell early on where an evening is about to tip or take off. Celebrations in the Berchtesgadener Land
Parties in hotels, traditional inns and alpine huts are part of my everyday life, and what I have learned about birthdays along the way helps you with planning. Seven venues are available if you want to celebrate your birthday here: two hotels in Berchtesgaden, another one in Oberau, the Salzbergalm, the Kulturhof and two traditional inns.
If you're celebrating in Berchtesgaden, you can choose between a hotel hall, a traditional inn parlour and an alpine hut, and Germany's only Alpine national park is right next door. Sometimes 20 people sit in the room, sometimes up to 250, and I adapt my system to the size of your group.
If you want to celebrate in the garden or at your own home, I bring a compact battery-powered set that works without a socket. Everything your room needs, I load up myself, so you don't have to organise any equipment. When I set up at your place and where the power comes from, we clarify in advance, so on your birthday your head is free for your guests.
The hotel lists anniversaries, birthdays and weddings as occasions. According to the operator, the Rauchkuchl has room for up to 250 people and the PANO Rooftop for up to 100. I plan my set-up around whichever of the rooms you choose.
The Alm am Obersalzberg lists wedding, birthday, company party and Christmas party as occasions and sits on its own with a view over Berchtesgaden. I adapt the equipment and the schedule to this location, so that your party starts without any rush.
The Kulturhof in the municipality of Bischofswiesen lists birthdays alongside weddings, company anniversaries and Christmas parties as occasions. According to the operator, the festival hall has room for up to around 160 people. For such a large hall, I plan a sound system with you that reaches all the tables evenly.
The Alpen Hotel lists birthdays, weddings and anniversaries as occasions. According to the operator, rooms can be partitioned off for up to 200 people. Whether you celebrate small or big, I match the sound system to the part of the house you book.
The Alpenhotel in Oberau lists birthdays and anniversaries in the Bergstadl as occasions; the Bergstadl holds up to 30 people according to the operator, the sun terrace up to 50. For a group of this size a slim set-up is enough for me, and I will talk it through with you beforehand.
The traditional inn in the neighbouring municipality of Ramsau lists birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and Christmas parties as occasions. According to the operator, up to 70 people fit into Franzis Stüberl. For a parlour like that I set up compactly so that the cosy room stays intact for you.
The innkeeper in the neighbouring municipality of Bischofswiesen lists birthday parties as an occasion and, according to the operator, has up to 120 seats. How I split the music between eating and dancing, we will discuss as soon as your guest count is settled.

Who I am
On the fifth and sixth of December, groups with Buttnmandln parade through the market in Berchtesgaden, and your evening can be just as lively. I've been behind the decks since 1998, at first in clubs, since 2004 at private and corporate celebrations, over 1450 events.
You decide what your party needs, and I shape my selection accordingly. I stay in the background myself; with me, the music does the talking. With my edits I connect songs that rarely play side by side. Send me your requests in advance, and your evening is set.
How it works
Tell me which day and which venue you are celebrating at. You will hear from me within a day, and later come a video call, the set-up and your party, and I will clear up any open questions with you personally. See the whole process →
Request a dateFirst comes your enquiry, then my reply within a day. In a short video call you tell me about your celebration, and your quote grows out of that.
If you have questions, just message me on WhatsApp; you will receive the private mobile number for that as soon as you have booked. About seven days before the party, we discuss the schedule, no-gos and requested songs together.
About one to two hours before the start, I am there setting up the equipment, whether on a roof terrace or in a hall. After the soundcheck and the agreement with you, everything stays in the background.
Guests arrive, soft lounge sounds fill the room and invite people to get acquainted. For the birthday guest of honour and special moments, I pick the song that underlines each moment.
Dinner, speeches, games: for everything there is fitting music or a microphone for clear announcements. Surprises and the cake cutting also get their own sound, so that every moment feels complete.
Then it is time to dance, and I take over. I watch how the dance floor reacts, keep adapting the selection and bring grandchildren, parents and grandparents together, right up to the last song.

Whether at the family table or in the big hall: I design a set of its own for you and steer it in a new direction mid-party if your guests need something different. Music from several decades and a feel for the right moment fill your dance floor. When the birthday guest of honour appears in the room or a very special moment is approaching, I steer the sound live towards it. Guests giving speeches get calm background music or none at all, whichever you prefer.

+49 176 700 580 27Background music plays on regardless of your guests, whereas I listen to the room and change direction as soon as your people want it. If the venue already has a good sound system installed, I use it, otherwise I bring my own. For small groups I deliberately keep everything small, so your parlour keeps its charm.
A wireless microphone is ready for you, so you can welcome guests, raise a toast or give a speech whenever it suits you. I turn the music down as soon as you start and bring it back up afterwards. I only make as many announcements of my own as you want; without agreement I hold back.
I take suggestions all evening long. It is best if a guest lets you know briefly or comes straight to me at the decks. If a request does not fit the current mood, I park it and play it at a point where it works better. Your own requested tracks serve me as a framework, without me working through them point by point.
For milestone parties at a fixed venue it's worth enquiring 6 to 12 months ahead, because that early my calendar is still open. Shorter-notice enquiries are often still doable with about 4 to 8 weeks. Tell me your date, and I'll quickly let you know whether I'm free that day.
A saxophonist from my network can play live over my mix on request, and I'll put you in touch. Vocals, violin or percussion are also possible for your party. We'll decide together in the preliminary talk when the performance fits into your evening.

My process in brief: You give me the date, venue and number of guests, we have a short phone call about your taste in music, and on the day I pick up shout-outs from your crowd.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
