As a party DJ my name is Michael Zimmermann, and I mix your birthday in Bad Tölz live, track by track tuned to the people sitting at your table. I made my first mix more than two decades ago, I have been playing private celebrations since 2004, and over 1450 parties have taught me to spot moods early. I stay in the background, because your guests should notice the music above all.

Parties in town and in the surrounding area
Vaulted cellars, country inn parlours and hotel halls each sound different, and what I've learned in rooms like these goes into your planning. Seven venues are options for your birthday: Kurhaus, Gewölbekeller and two country inns in town, plus venues in Dietramszell, Lenggries and Bad Heilbrunn, which I'm happy to introduce to you.
If you celebrate in the town whose Marktstraße is known for its Lüftlmalerei, you often have the choice between a vaulted cellar, an inn parlour and a festival hall, and you can pick your venue in peace. From a small parlour with 20 guests to the festival hall, everything is there, so I size my sound system to suit your guest count.
If you would rather celebrate at home or in the garden, I bring a mini set that works on battery power if necessary. Whether living room, beer garden or hall: my system fits the size of the room, and you don't need to worry about the equipment. We discuss power, set-up time and access in advance, so you can celebrate completely relaxed on the big day.
The Kurhaus lists birthdays as an occasion, and according to the operator the rooms range from the banquet hall to the Salettl, which holds up to 80 people. With a range like that, I agree the sound system and layout with you beforehand, before I set up.
The inn lists birthdays as an occasion for its vaulted cellar with a bar and event stage, right next to its own brewery. In the vaulted cellar I plan the set-up and sound so that the music reaches the whole cellar and the stage stays free.
The Posthotel on Marktstraße lists children's birthdays as an occasion, and according to the operator, the Kolbersaal holds up to 80 guests and the Magdalenstüberl up to 20 people. For the Stüberl a slim set-up is enough for me, in the hall I bring more equipment.
The country inn lists birthdays as an occasion, and according to the operator up to 90 people fit in, while the Biedermeierzimmer holds up to 20. Depending on the room, I choose between a compact and a larger set-up and talk it through with you beforehand.
The Klosterschänke is in Dietramszell, so in the surrounding area, and lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, the hall with its baroque vaulting holds up to 84 people and the Stüberl 45. I plan my set-up around the construction of the vault.
The hotel is in Lenggries in the Isarwinkel, so in the surrounding area, and lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, up to 140 people celebrate in the Ludwig-Ganghofer-Saal and the Jägerstüberl holds 50. For the big hall I bring more equipment, in the Stüberl I keep it compact.
The country inn in Bad Heilbrunn, also in the surrounding area, lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, the Schmiedn-Saal holds up to 199 guests. At this size I clear the set-up and equipment with you and the venue in advance.

Who I am
Every year on 6 November the Leonhardifahrt, a horse pilgrimage, takes place in Bad Tölz, and at your birthday I make sure that even without horses, there is movement on the dance floor. I started in the club in 1998, and since 2004 it has mostly been private and corporate celebrations, over 1450 so far. I stay in the background, the music speaks, and you have your evening to yourself.
With my edits I combine hits from several decades, so your guests of every age join in dancing. Send me your requests in advance, and I am happy to take a shout late in the evening too.
How it works
Just tell me the date and place of your party, I'll get back to you by the next day at the latest, and then we'll go over everything up to the set-up by video. I'm always happy to answer any questions personally. See the whole process →
Request a dateA short message with your key details is enough, and you will hear from me within 24 hours. Then we chat in the video call, you tell me about your party, and I put together a quote for you.
You can reach me on WhatsApp from the confirmation onwards, and I will give you my private mobile number for that. Shortly before the date, about seven days before, we calmly agree on the schedule, no-gos and requested songs.
When the guests enter the venue, none of my equipment should be visible: that is why I set up one to two hours beforehand, test the sound and ask you or the venue about any last wishes.
As the guests arrive, quiet lounge music creates a pleasant atmosphere for mingling. The birthday guest of honour is welcomed with a fitting track, as is every special moment.
At the table, atmospheric music plays, and for speeches and announcements I open up the microphone. Whether a game, a surprise or the cake cutting: every item on the programme gets the music that carries it.
Once the dance floor is open, I keep my eye on the guests, change the selection live and bring all generations together, right up to the final song.

I combine current chart hits with classics from the seventies to the nineties, I collect your song requests beforehand, and I do not work through a rigid sheet at your party.
At the latest two hours before your start, I have my equipment fully set up and carefully check the sound, and at the end I tear down on my own so you do not have to.
You decide which extras you add, such as uplights, photo station, live music or an audio guest book, and I take care of all the coordination.

Of course, I'll put a wireless microphone out for you, and you take the floor whenever you like. You can even hand it to a guest in the middle of the evening, and I'll step back. How much announcing you'd like from me otherwise, we'll talk through beforehand.
Shout-outs are welcome at any time, and you don't have to fill in anything for that. If a request doesn't fit the mood right now, I play it a round later so you still get it. Your list is my starting point, and I don't follow it word for word.
The earlier you get in touch, the bigger your choice, because popular Saturdays are often booked months ahead with me. Tell me when you would like to celebrate, I will check my calendar and reply quickly. If your party is coming up soon, better pick up the phone.
If you like, a musician from my network plays live along with my mix, and I put you in touch. Vocals or percussion can also be planned in for you, depending on how your crowd ticks. In the initial chat we work out together at which point of your evening such a performance adds the most.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
