I am Michael Zimmermann, and for your birthday at the Königssee I mix live, tuned to the guests celebrating with you. I started DJing over 25 years ago, since 2004 I have been booked for private celebrations, and more than 1450 events have trained my eye for the room. I stay in the background, speak only where it is needed, and let the mix work for you.

Parties between mountain and water
Inns, halls and parlours each have their own quirks, and because I have accompanied many birthdays in such rooms, I shape your planning accordingly. Five venues are ready for your birthday: an inn with a big hall including a stage, a historic house on the lakeshore, a tavern that arranges groups of up to 60 people individually, a country inn with a dining room and terrace, and a lakeside restaurant. I plan my equipment with you to suit the room you decide on.
When you celebrate at the Königssee, you often have the choice between a Gasthaus with a big hall and a historic house right on the water, where only electric boats run. The rooms range from 30 to 300 people, and I adapt the system to your guest count.
If you prefer to celebrate at home or in the garden, a compact set comes along that even plays on battery without a socket. Whether parlour, hall or terrace: I bring the equipment in exactly the size that suits your room, and there is nothing left for you to do. We clarify power, set-up time and special features beforehand, so that on the day you only have to join the party.
The Gasthaus in Schönau am Königssee explicitly lists birthdays among its occasions. According to the operator, the large hall is approved for a maximum of 300 people and has a stage, projector and XXL screen. Since the stage and screen are already there, I set up my equipment so that it doesn't block anything.
The historic inn on the lakeshore in Berchtesgaden National Park lists birthdays and anniversaries as occasions. According to the operator, the Königszimmer holds up to 30 people and the Historische Säle up to 250. I choose my set-up according to the room you book, small for the room and larger for the halls.

The Gasthof Bodner in Schönau am Königssee lists birthday parties, Christmas parties and corporate parties as occasions. According to the operator, there are 110 seats in the dining room and 60 on the terrace. I plan my system around the area you choose for your guests, indoors or outdoors.

Who I am
At the Eisarena am Königssee there is guest luge and guest bob, and your evening can have just as much speed. I've been behind the decks since 1998, the first years in clubs, since 2004 at private and corporate parties, over 1450 events. I listen to what you wish for and build my set accordingly.
I keep myself in the background, because with me the music does the talking. My edits are homemade and let songs from different decades flow. You celebrate, and your guests of every age dance along. Just tell me what you want your evening to be.

Request a dateYour enquiry is entirely enough for me to get started. I will get back to you within 24 hours, in the video call you tell me about your celebration by the shore, and afterwards you receive an offer.
As soon as you have booked, I send you my private mobile number for WhatsApp. A week before the celebration we settle the schedule, requested songs and no-gos together.
By the time the first guests arrive, everything is done: between one and two hours beforehand I am on site, set up the equipment and sound check and go through everything with you and the venue. Nobody sees any of it.
The evening begins with cosy lounge music that stays in the background while the guests chat. I welcome the birthday guest of honour musically with a track of their own, and special moments receive the right music too.
When there is eating, talking and celebrating, the music adapts: atmospheric for dinner, with a microphone for announcements and speeches, playful for games, surprises and the cutting of the cake.
When someone opens the dance floor, I take over immediately. I read what moves the guests, adapt my set live and bring all generations together on the dance floor, right up to the very last song.

Sometimes you sit at a table with a few friends, sometimes the whole extended family celebrates, and for both I build you a set of its own that I keep fine-tuning during the evening. Hits from across the decades and an eye for the right moment tempt even the hesitant out of their chairs. A speech, a toast or a photo film: for items like these I pull the music back and give it room again afterwards. My system is compact and goes up in a short time.

At least two hours before the start I am fully set up and test the sound in peace, and I do the tear-down alone after the party.

+49 176 700 580 27Whether a DJ is worth it depends on how lively you want your evening to be. I watch who likes to dance and who would rather stay seated, and add music accordingly. If the sound system in the venue is good, I use it, otherwise I set up my own, and with few guests I deliberately keep the set-up slim so your room stays cosy.
Of course, a wireless microphone is ready at the decks for your welcome or speech. If you give me a sign, I put it in your hand, and that works at any time, even in the middle of a dance block. How much hosting you would like from me otherwise, we discuss before the party, in case of doubt very little.
I take requests at any time, whether beforehand by message or spontaneously at the decks. If a track doesn't fit at the moment, I set it aside and bring it back once your evening is ready for it. Your list is my foundation, but I don't hold on to it like a script.
For milestone birthdays on a fixed date, a lead time of six to twelve months is worthwhile with me, because these days get booked early. Shorter notice of four to eight weeks often works for smaller parties too. If your party is coming up soon, pick up the phone: I'll check and tell you straight away whether there's space in my calendar on that date.
That can be arranged, because a musician from my network joins in at a point of your choice and plays over my beats. Who I can arrange for you, I tell you in our chat, as well as alternatives with vocals or violin. When the performance adds the most to the evening, I decide together with you.

For your birthday, I start with three details from you, namely date, place and number of guests. After that we have a short chat about your favourite music, and at the party I leave room for spontaneous requests.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
