My name is Michael Zimmermann, I'm a party DJ, and I mix your birthday in Memmingen live, track by track according to the mood at your table and on the dance floor. I started DJing more than 25 years ago, I've been accompanying family parties and birthdays since 2004, and over 1450 events have taught me to read guests early. Staying in the background suits me, because your evening should be the focus, not me.

Celebrating in the town and around it
Rooms like these, whether hotel hall, country inn or café, have shown me over the years how set-up and walkways carry a birthday, and I bring this knowledge into your planning. Seven venues are available for your birthday, from the hotel in town and the café in the old town to the farm café and the big festival barn, and I set up my system to suit your room.
Your birthday in a city where, at the Fischertag, Memmingers jump into the drained city stream year after year, should also have some musical swing. From the small courtyard café with up to 50 people to the Feststadl with up to 500 seats, the operator lists a wide range, and how many guests you expect determines the size of my system.
If your party is in the living room or under the open sky, I pack a handy set that makes music on battery power even without a mains connection. Whether hall, parlour or living room, I adapt the system to the size of the room, and you don't have to worry about any equipment. We clarify power, set-up time and conditions together beforehand, so on the day there's nothing left for you to do except celebrate with your guests.
The hotel lists birthdays, explicitly including milestone ones, as an occasion. According to the operator, celebrations with up to 120 people are possible, and the rooms can be arranged as you wish. That's why I only set up my equipment once you've decided on a layout.

For the hall or event location I choose the system to match the number of guests you give me.
The castle hotel in the surrounding area lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, the castle restaurant holds up to 120 people. In a venue like that, I set up my equipment discreetly so the restaurant keeps its character.
The Brauereigasthof in Westerheim lists birthdays and anniversaries as occasions. According to the operator, the Feststadl offers up to 500 seats and thus room for very large groups. For such a large hall I bring a sound system that I tune to your number of guests.
The café lists birthdays and anniversaries as occasions and, according to the operator's website, sits in the middle of the old town. Especially in a café, I use a slim set-up so that your room does not feel overloaded, and I agree everything with the venue in advance.
The Illerhof lists birthdays as an occasion. According to the operator, events with up to 50 people can be hosted, and a farm café and a farm shop are part of it. For this small setting a slim set-up is enough, which I tailor to your group.

For your birthday in Memmingen I take care of the atmosphere on the dance floor. Your evening should sound like you and your guests. It started for me in the club in 1998, private and corporate parties followed in 2004, and after more than 1450 events I'm a good listener.
I stay in the background, the music speaks, and I listen to you and your guests. With my own edits I let songs from very different eras run into each other. Tell me beforehand what absolutely must not be missing at your party.
How it works
Let me know briefly when and where you're celebrating, and I'll get back to you within a day. Then come a video call, set-up and your party, and I answer all your questions personally. See the whole process →
Request a dateIt begins with your celebration, which you tell me about in a short video call; I get in touch for that 24 hours after your enquiry at the latest. Then I draw up an offer for you.
After you confirm, we stay in direct contact: you get my private mobile number for WhatsApp. Seven days before the celebration we discuss the schedule, requested songs and anything that must not be played under any circumstances.
The guests should not notice the equipment, so I arrive between one and two hours beforehand, set up the system and do the sound check. Brief arrangements with you and the venue are part of this.
At the reception I provide the soundtrack for arriving and chatting: relaxed lounge sounds in the background. When the birthday guest of honour walks in or a special moment is coming up, there is exactly the right music for it.
I give every part of the programme its fitting sound: music for the meal, a microphone for speeches and announcements, plus accompaniment for games, surprises and the moment the cake is cut.
Now the dance floor is ours. I watch closely what the guests want, adjust the song selection in real time and keep young and old on their feet until the very last number.

Whether a small table or a big family gathering: for your day I develop a set of its own and keep adjusting it as it goes. Songs from across the decades and my eye for the right moment get even the last guests out of their chairs. If a slideshow is running at your party or someone is giving a speech, I move the music into the background and gently bring it back afterwards. A living room is as good a stage for me as a terrace, because I bring my compact setup with me.

If the venue has a decent sound system, I use it, otherwise I bring mine. For a small group I deliberately keep the set-up small so that your room doesn't look overloaded.
Yes, I set a wireless microphone ready for you, and you decide when you speak. If a guest wants to give a toast, I hand him the microphone myself. How often I pick up the microphone beyond that, you decide with me before the party.
Yes, I take requests all evening, whether at the decks or by call-out, without you having to fill anything in. If the mood calls for something else right now, I push the requested song to later. Your list is for me the frame within which I mix freely.
For milestone birthdays with a booked hall, it's worth enquiring half a year to a full year ahead, because I give out such dates early. Smaller parties I can often still fit in six to eight weeks ahead. If your party is already close, call me, and I'll tell you right away whether your date is free.
Yes, if you like, I'll bring in musicians for saxophone, violin, vocals or percussion who complement my beats with live sounds. I put you in touch with them and take care of coordinating with the sound equipment. At which point in your evening the live music works best, we'll think through together beforehand.

Transparency
A whole evening of nothing but Schlager and Ballermann, hour after hour? A few big crowd-pleasers in between, when the mood calls for it, belong to a good birthday party for me. Building a whole evening on them alone isn't my thing, though. I'm just as little the right person for non-stop techno sets without any contact with the crowd, for rigid request lists that get worked through from top to bottom, or for festival formats with several stages. There are other DJs who can do exactly that and love it, nothing against them, it's simply not my speciality.
My craft is mixing live for guests who want an evening with a feel for the moment: clean transitions, the right track at the right time, instead of just pressing play. That's why I'd rather tell you beforehand what I don't do than have you disappointed on the night.
